Hey,

I've searched the forums but can't find an answer - I'm sure its there somewhere so apologies if this has been covered before.

I'm powering my 360 off a 485w Enermax PSU and I was wondering if this could offer an easy was of running the stock fans at 12v.

I searched the internet and couldn't find a suitable adapter for hooking the fans to either a molex or the PSU's separate 4pin 12v line so does anyone know if such a thing exists and whether this could be done?

Thanks.

Thanks Sheepie, unfortunately I think I would need a 4pin-4pin (female-female) adapter or a 4pin-molex. I'd be particularly interested if anyone knew if a 4pin adapter exists.

I just thought that as I was using a PC PSU to power my 360 I might as well make use of the spare 12v rail to power the fans. Is there a reason why this wouldn't be ok?

I don't think one exists - it's not a mainstream cable requirement. Plenty of molex to P4 MALE connectors about but no molex to female. You can create one easy enough with a 2 x P4 EXTENSION cables (has the female bit on one end) then the two females together ... wink.gif Or of course just cut the fan wires and connect to a single P4 extension cable if you don't want to cut your PSU cables up ... smile.gif

Some good ideas there, thanks RBJ - I know you've had a bit of a play with a Talismoon Energyzer PSU adapter and judging by your reaction its not the greatest bit of kit. Do you think it would be a better idea just to do the 12v fan mod and use the original power brick than to run the fans off my 485W Enermax?

It won't make any difference tbh - 12v is 12v - both sources are more than capable of running the fans smile.gif so whatever is the easiest - probably from the Enermax I guess as you've got plenty of 12v wires to choose from ...
