(USA) Wedbush: 250k Xbox360s Sold in March
Posted by XanTium | April 13 19:51 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From gamasutra.com: [QUOTE] Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter has predicted a modest 3 percent rise in game sales for March's upcoming NPD U.S. charts to $515 million, on sales of GRAW 2 and God of War II.
Looking specifically at hardware, Pachter assumes Wii will be leading the pack at 400,000 units sold, followed by the Xbox 360, PS2, and DS at 250,000 units each, followed by the PSP at 210,000, and, interestingly, the PlayStation 3 and Game Boy Advance tied at the end with 165,000 units each. Nintendo may have been smart to have a more basic console for $250; they're climbing fast! True, they need to have people who can program circles around the hardware, but since all the technology has been available for quite some time now, and with an exponentially growing installed base, should be like clockwork.
Either way, since 360 has a 10.5 million installed base, it's not like anyone's really taking away from them. The only thing I could see happening is people trading their 360s towards PS3s, *if* Sony can deliver.

nintendo is pushing consoles, a lot of consoles, no doubt. but, they will not win overall. i know a bunch of people with a Wii and they either only have Wii Sports or they have 1 or 2 other games. the attach rate on the 360 for example is a lot higher. i'm not hating on the wii, i have one and i have a ps3. but, i'm just saying, the wii is a novelty item, the hype will fall surrounding the machine. my prediction by end of 2008 is 360 1st, 2nd wii and a distant 3rd, ps3. i'm basing this off potential software and hardware sales.

I kind of agree with what was said above.
I can see the Wii not doing well in the future after few years apart from in japan.
360 ps3 wii
That's how I can see it being by 2010 due to the prices on the 360 and ps3 would of dropped to a point most people think they are well worth it due to both will have a stunning game line up and graphics. Wii I can't see the graphics improving only they have some Mario and Pokemon to come which will sell well but how long can they keep going on just the same stuff over and over again.

Honestly, I really don't see this happening. The 360 has a far better catalog of games. I passed a GameStation near where I live and are offering a trade-in deal for a PS3. Yes, they want your 360 AND £250 to secure one.
No thanks - I'd rather use the money for a Wii or another 360.
You emphasized '*if* Sony can deliver' - how much longer do you really want to give them? The PS3 was announced around the same time as the 360, with it arriving (at least in the UK) 15 months later. If the only thing holding back hardware was the blue diodes for the lasers, the launch package should have been colossal. As it stands, it's selling far less than the 360 in the US only 6 months after launch.

The 360 is a blatant winner; Nobody wants to buy a PS3! I was in a Gamestop and this one loaded guy was buying a console for his kids. I mean, he was buying a console for EACH of his kids. He picked up a 360, PS2, and a Wii. I asked him if he was going to buy a PS3, they were fully stocked. He replied, "Hell No!" Haha. That's pretty sad when even the extremely wealthy refuse to buy one.
I think the Wii is something new, something amazing to the general public. I have my eyes on the 360, however. I play with my brother's Wii every time he comes home from college and it really isn't as entertaining as it is fresh. I would much rather be playing Gears of War with my friends or Halo 3 - I don't need motion sensing controllers to have fun.

exactly, the Wii is fun...for a while and every once in a while...the novelty is entertaining
i, too, would much rather be gaming with my friends on Halo 2 or H3 Beta - very soon...

I don't see the PS3 doing much better without a valid live service, especially in the future, people want to game online now and Sony's live service is a clusterfuck. Maybe that will change in the future. It does have it's good points such as: The machine seems much more quality/stable than a 360. It has "Home" coming out which seems to be a very cool feature for PS3 owners to have their own Second Life like alternate reality where you can even watch movies and swap stuff in your virtual home that you build and decorate. One of the most easily modded machines, very mod and Linux friendly. A cheap Bluray player that does so much more if Bluray wins the format war. I'll definitely consider purchasing one in the future.
As far as the Wii goes it will be fun and I plan on owning one. I traded my Gamecube in on the 360 and I wish I hadn't, I often find myself wanting to play many Nintendo titles so I will definitely get a Wii when I can get my hands on one. However, having said that I think the novelty of the Wiimote will get tired and I think not having much better graphics will give it an early death. Graphics aren't everything, but in a few years the Wii will be very far behind unlike the Gamecube. The Cube was pretty much on par with the current systems of it's day, Resident Evil 4 on the Cube was easily on par with Xbox 1 graphics and gameplay, now they have set themselves worlds apart. The Wii like the Gamecube simply doesn't have very good mature titles either which will hold it back from being taken seriously.
As of right now the Xbox 360 is still the best bang for your buck for this generation IMHO, which sucks because I abhor Microsoft and I hate giving them my money, but it is a good system minus all of it's hardware failures. I do plan on owning a Wii and possibly a PS3 in the future.
