Hi i have followed all the install tutorial to the letter but i cant get yellow dog to install. when i run the new os and select install i just geat an message saying "word unexpected (expecting ")"). what im ai doing wrong. i have the dvd in the drive that i burnt with dvd dycreptor. any healp please

Have you installed Sonys OtherOS installer, and put the files into the correctly named folders when doing so?

yes i have done all that. I have done exactly what the guide says. could it be to do with the firmware 1.7 i installed. I updated the ps3 just before i tried to install linux.
