UPS guesses 'repair center' = Xbox 360
Posted by XanTium | April 19 22:12 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From gamerawr.com:
After missing the delivery of my repaired 360, I drove over to my UPS to get the package. While waiting for the box to be retrieved, the customer service person noticed the shipper field on my missed delivery notification read "repair center." With only that clue, she asked me, "does this happen to be for an Xbox?" I told her yes, and we both laughed. Apparently I'm not alone in my broken 360 woes. She informed me that she has seen hundreds of these 360 return boxes.
Note: But remember ... almighty Microsoft PR says the failure rate of the Xbox 360 is below the CE industry average of 3-5%. We soooooo believe you ;)

I, too, find this incredibly interesting that it makes news on the front page of xbox-scene. I mean, seriously - a supposed conversation with a UPS employee posted on some website is really that important? Halo 2 released new maps earlier this week and no article was made for that and that game series literally provided the foundation for the existence of the 360...

if you come here for game related news, you look at the wrong site. With few exceptions we don't report about retail games related news ... enough huge sites out there to cover that news.

MS is lying to themselves if they believe their own crap.

My 2nd month after launch 360 gave out when it tried the more demanding Gears Game.

Warranty repair invoked....I just received my 4th Xbox 360 in 2 months:

- 1x Original
- 2x refurbed units arriving DOA
- 1x new unit w/ 6 month old mfg date

The last required some serious TECH SUPPORT ass kicking to get from M$.

My personal experience from friends w/ 360 issues, defective rate is well over 50% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder how long MS can hide this from share holders........

The reason its news is because its pure comedy that UPS can spot a 360 warranty box!!!!
They see hundreds of nondescript brown boxes every day, to see enough 360 boxes to recognize on site is quite news worthy.

My first 360 wouldn't boot 90% of the time. I returned it and got a new one which has worked fine since.

On a side note why reply to a story you don't like? It accomplishes nothing and only adds pointless rambling to the thread. Just ignore it next time and problem solved. smile.gif

I actually return mine as did many of my buddies because we wanted a samsung drive.. lol nothing was ever wrong with our systems.. I think many other people return them for that reason or just to get a new 360.. who wants to get stuck with a launch console when you can update for free!

it's news because we want to keep reminding Microsoft there's a real issue with their Xbox360 ... and so far they aren't doing much about it.
sure they extended the warranty and so ... but they didn't really solve the problem.

Funny because ALL of my friends have had problems. I'm the only lucky one who hasn't had to have mine replaced yet and it's probably because I replaced the thermal grease on the cpu and gpu, replaced the stock fans, cut away the metal grill behind the fans and keep my 360 on a shelf all to itself under my 56" TV. That still doesn't stop it from freezing up sometimes though.

i find it funny how some people don't think something like this is news worthy. although i will admit a convo with a ups employee isnt the most reliable source. the fact that people in the shipping industry are seeing tons of returns tells you that the company who makes the product just might be lying to you unthinkable right?
stories like this are the only thing keeping me from buying a 360 and i really want one .
i personally know a few people who have sent 360s back to ms. for me its not a rumor or something made up to discredit ms.
once they get the "glitches" ironed out they will have a new customer in me till then i will just sit waiting playing something else.

I enjoyed reading about how many xbox 360s are really defected and I don't plan on buying one anytime soon. If I'm paying top dollar for a next gen system, I have an expectation that it will last longer than 6 months.
