QUOTE(petrm @ Aug 17 2007, 02:36 PM) *

plz help i dont quite understand this

Extract from iXtreme RAR firmware (or xtreme53: Xtreme53X.bin where X=A,B,C,D) to a directory and rename it to replaced.bin

i want change 78 hitachi on ms25
i have 78 orig.bin

and now how i unerstand i can use fw (for ms25) from xtreme53 rar???? i can make it without read from my ms25 rom???? key that have 53b-ms25.bin is FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

i right???

sorry for my english

It is better to use the file xtrem53A (or b,c,d) not the 53b-ms25.bin.

then copy your key in it as per instruction above (key must not stay FFFFFF...)

For a ms25 you can leave it as ms28 (or spoof it as ms25), up to you.

yes if you can get the key from the 79,

it will require soldering a chip in it to get the allow the extraction, but obviously after the chip is in you could just flash the 79 with latest FW!!! or replace it if you prefer

Hi

so as i bricked my old MS25 due to a problem whilst flashing,

my old drive is an MS25 with an MS28 firmware.

i have a perfectly prepared ixtreme bios which is all properly formatted and ready to go with the key injected (it was the one i was goign to put on my old dvd drive)

if i buy a brand new MS25 drive, can i simply get my usb stick with the same ix12.bin on it and inject straight into the new drive?

(and hope i dont have a c failur mid flash this time!!!!!)

if i can then i will buy a new drive right now.

cheers
M.

As above, I have an MS25 which I have flashed a few times so now has MS28 FW (I think?). My last flash was with iXtreme1.2c. I have just bought a replacement MS25 as my original drive has died on me. I still have my iPrep folder saved from the last flash I did (I have to use NTFS4DOS method). Should i be able to just iFLASH the new drive using this now?

Cheers

Yes - just use iFlash 1234567 12345 (replace with your serial number). That will flash your hacked firmware to the new drive.

Caster.

I followed the steps above and it worked like a charm!

My MS25 kept getting the "Open Tray" error and the rubberband trick wouldn't work. My originals worked fine though, after 10+ drive ejects and close.

I got a new MS28 off Ebay and flashed it with the iXtreme 1.4 and now it will read my backups again.

Thanks!

Hi!
I am trying to apply a Sammy (new) to my Hitachi 59 (old).
Using NTSF4DOS cd and iPrep 101 v0.0.6.2 Beta.

Here is what i did:

1. Get the fw from Sammy.
2. Open the fw in Step1 with firmware toolbox and replace the key with the one i got from Hitachi 59.
3. Spoof to Hitachi 59.
4. Place the newly edited fw to the ixtreme1.4 folder and use "Make ixtreme firmware"
5. **Success* with Original firmware: Hitachi 59 (spoofed as MS28), Hacked firmware: MS28 (ixtreme1.4. The key is correct too (the old Hitachi key which proves that the key has been replaced).

6. Open iPrep 101 v0.0.6.2 Beta and load the newly edited firmware.
7. Error: No Valid Firmware Loaded.

Please help me!!

I am assuming you are replacing your Hitachi drive with a new Samsung.

What I would do would be this.

Get a copy of Samsung iExtreme 1.41 Firmware.
Copy the Hitachi drive key to it using firmware toolbox.
Spoof as Hitachi 59.
Just make a bootable floppy with MTKFlash on it and flash your Samsung drive.

Thanks for the reply.
I would love to use the bootable USB drive but my PC doesnt support USB drive boot up and and doesnt have a floppy disk drive either.
So all i can use is the NTFS4DOS cd to get into dos prompt.

Would it be the same if i use MTKFLASH in the iprep prepared folder once i got into command prompt?
Instead of doing the dsam/fsam, i would go to the c:/iprep_~1/Tools and run the MTKFlash command.
If it can be done, then where should i put the newly edited firmware?

Thanks again for reply.
