Xbox 360 Elite: Back Side of Motherboard
Posted by XanTium | April 21 00:21 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Yesterday, Llamma already released lots of info and pictures of the Xbox 360 Elite motherboard (which we'll, just like Llamma, dub Xbox360 v1.1 motherboard from now on as some 'birds' told us the Core/Pro console might get this HDMI-enabled Xbox360 soon (summer) too), one pictures was missing however ... of the back of the motherboard, which they posted today:
[QUOTE]
The interesting part to most is the area under where the CPU connects we see lots of changes around here but its mostly just smaller components in a tighter space. The Ball Grid Array size has of course not changed so although we see a denser arrangement of smaller components we should not take this to mean that it is necessarily the 65nm core.

Great.
Just would like to know, would the 78 hack work on the hitachi with the elite motherboard?

Evryone knows it: Inside the Xbox 360 Elite

QUOTE
Our first pleasant surprise is a Hitachi GDR-3120L FK78 DVD drive inside. I was hoping not to see a BENQ drive as there are no flashing utilities available at the moment so there is no ability to replace the DVD drive or use this as a parts motherboard. Extracting the drive key and flashing the firmware of this unit wont be a problem!

This would mean that the white xbox 360s would hopefully have the HDMI and 120GB, because i really dont like the black version, the white one looks better (who agrees?). But if the white one doesn't come with HDMI and 120GB soon then i would have to buy the black one.

The White 360's will soon get HDMI, I read it on some site I have forgot the source though.

I think White should only be left to Apple products, I like Black, most of my entertainment centre is black, so the Elite would sit well with my entertainment area.

The 120GB drives are already being sold separately in USA so I doubt they would include them, but you might as well save that money to get a elite.

I don't even have a 360 yet but I will be getting an Elite when it comes out here in November, I also think the mobo is just a cheaper to manufacture version, even the colour has changed, maybe MS are making a profit on it now?

As of right now, I could care less about all the shots of the motherboard they're giving us. What they need to answer, is are the fans any quieter? That's one of the big reasons people want 65nm, and they're totally ignoring this.

If it's a HLG v78, yeah I guess the hack will work just fine.
However, keep in mind microsoft might have used more than 1 type of drive during Elite production ... so it's not because Llamma's Elite has a HLG78 that all Elites will have this drive.

Where do you get that there are no longer X-clamps? From the pic it doesn't even look like the heat sinks were connected. Probably just took the clamps off for the picture.
