Will all flashed drives (Samsung ms=25/28 Hitachi drives) play backedup/original games from both Ntsc+Pal or just the region your console is from. The reason I ask is because a mate with a flashed Hitachi 59 drive (i think) with a pal console was able to play one Ntsc game but not another one

not all games are region free. if you search around you will find a list of what is and isn't. any region free game will boot on any 360 (modded or not modded)

any region free backup will boot on any flashed 360.

For the same reason they make DVD's region coded.

They want to provided targeting marking for the game and do not want people playing it before they are ready. Most games/movies are released in USA first and then subseqently released overseas. (Japan being the exception they are high enough on the totem pole to get their own unique releases). It's all about controlled distribution. MS does not want you playing Viva Pinata until they place ads in magazines and television commercials that you are going to see. Marketing campaings are not worldwide.

Specifically for movies.. movies that come out on DVD for us are JUST getting to the theaters overseas. Who is going to see it in a theater if they can just buy a region unlocked DVD.
