Dragon Electronics: Step Down AC Adapter for PS3 and Xbox 360
Posted by XanTium | May 2 14:25 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Not really a unique product, but Dragon Electronics released a sharply priced ($19) Step Down AC Adapter for PS3 and Xbox 360 that can be useful for all European gamers importing consoles from N-America or Japan. It looks like a small PS3 and with its 500W output you'll have more than enough output to power your 100-110V Xbox360 on a 220-240V network:
[QUOTE]
Use any Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 console from USA/Asia, that use 110V current, in countries that use 220V like Europe with this convenient power adapter. Plus it looks stylish and is very safe for your console.

Specifications :
* Built-in fuse for more safety
* Compatible with Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 systems
* Stable and high output power (500W)
* Built-in cooling fan to keep temperature low
* Step down function input: 220-240V // Output: 100-120V
Step Down AC Adapter

Thats good news. I remember the super large transformers back in my childhood days to power up foreign electronics and considering the size and price of this item, its worth it smile.gif

But the 360's power brick will work in both 110V and 220V regions without the need for a step down adapter. Am I missing something here or is this kinda pointless for 360 owners? blink.gif .

Agreed, being a M$ fanboy and personally hating $ony, I wouldn't use one if I got it for free laugh.gif

Not really the smartest move to make it work for 2 consoles, but make it look like only one of the 2. They should make both a 360 and P$3 one or a generic one that doesn't look like a P$3. Or they should just make one that looks like the better and more popular console (360 tongue.gif )

They should make it look like the wii and only work on the 360 or PS3

A US ps3 works fine in Europe too as the internal psu auto-switches. So if the 360 psu is the same, this seems rather pointless, apart from a more power.

Is a step down box necessary to use an xbox in a 220v country? Would this device work for the original xbox? I'll take it with me to brasil.

I was thinking about importing a PAL xbox 360 to play some select games that aren't available in the US. Would this adapter be necessary? Will the PAL games flicker on my tv?
Thanks

The PS3 has a universal powersupply, it does not need a stepdown transformer period. Marketing the product to ignorant PS3 owners is a flat-out scam.

The 360 however does require a stepdown transformer.

Depends on if your tv supports PAL, dont ask us as we dont know what model of tv you own.

Back on topic that would have to be the stupidest design ever, why make it look like one of the two consoles that it supports? It being a small black brick would have been much better imo.
