Hi there.
I would like to ask if all the neo geo games could be run in the new version of the xbox mame.
I especially like the metal slug and KOF series, so i'd like to know if they all run great on xbox?

thanks a lot

Most of them work well, but only in the MAME-X build, and not on the MAMEox one.

cheers smile.gif

I'd also recommend sticking with Mame-X. Its the most stable version for playing Neo Geo games. And yes, while it doesn't play the larger games like Last Blade 2, or Metal Slug 4, it still has a large library of games available.
Some of the games that you can play are:

1.Blazing Star
2.King of Fighters 96
3.Magical Drop 3
4.user posted image5.user posted image6.user posted image
4 Metal Slug 2
5.Pulstar
6.Real Bout Fatal Fury Special
7.user posted image8.user posted image9.user posted image
7.Samurai Shodown 4
8.Shock Troopers
9.Super Dodge Ball

...and that's not including other great games like Last Resort, Ninja Masters, Twinklestar Sprites, or Waku Waku 7. You shouldn't have a problem finding a Neo game that you'll want to play. smile.gif

Splattered - the best thing to do as of right now, is to use both versions of Mame if there's games that you want to play that are only available in MameoX. I still consider Mame-X the most reliable of all the Xbox versions, but I realize that there's folks who like games that can only be played in MameoX. So, use Mame-X for your Neo Geo gaming, and then use Mameox for everything else.

thank you guys.
I so much want to play MS4 or KOF2000-02 on the TC screen.
I have a small monitor and when friends come it better to play in the living room...

Would running the bigger games ever be possible?

koyoutou - unless Playmore releases an Xbox version of Metal Slug 4 or King of Fighters 200X, you're just not going to see them on this system. They're too large. You're best bet is to either play them on PC, or get yourself an MVS arcade board.

If Metal Slug was to have an official XBOX release id be the first in line to go and buy it, that game just rules.

Also whats the biggest size rom you can play, wasnt it around 40mb?

I'm pretty lazy when it comes to trying to find out the full uncompressed size of the Neo games, but I know that the largest one that you can play is Real Bout Fatal Fury Special which JUST squeezes in at 24.4 megs zipped. Last Blade 1 would've been the next in line, but its a little over 25 megs zipped, and is goes over the RAM limit when its decompressed. King of Fighters 96 is also one of the larger ones, clocking in at 23.3 megs zipped.

What about if you upgraded the RAM to a bigger size (this has been done before)? Would Metal Slug 4 and other larger games work then?

Its a shame they dont come out with some sort of feature to make use of the cache drives of the xbox or some virtual memory so we can play the larger games.
