Xtreme firmware 5.3A,5.3B,5.3C,5.3D for TS-H943 Xbox 360
Posted by Iriez | May 6 01:34 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Commodore4eva released a new version of his firmware for the Toshiba-Samsung TS-H943 Xbox360 drive with added protection against the new checks/detection Microsoft will probably add in the spring2007 dashboard/kernel update (coming next week).
Whats New:
(v5.3) Disc-Jitter added for Challenge Types 5/7 to avoid possible replay detection.
Disc-Jitter is slight randomization added to the result of Challenge types 5 and 7 so as to emulate a result from an actual physical drive.
This is to avoid any possible replay detection.
(v5.3) Support added for DVD drive to Report as Hitachi 79

hmm, doesn't look like it's worth updating imo. Well I'll still update it whenever I can though.

Probably not until after MS releases their Patch. Usually the Firmware hackers are smart enough to do 1 brand of drives at a time to not show their hand all at once!

Quick question:

I am running one of the 4.x releases (don't recall exactly which version) and am thinking of upgrading to this. It was originally an MS28 drive and from what I recall the firmware I am running is also based on MS28. I know you need to use the enable800 disc to reflash it - so the question:

Do I need to burn the enable800 iso to a DL disc? Or can it be a regular DVD or even a CD (assuming it will fit)? Just want to make sure I burn it to the correct media.

Since you have 4.x, I think you need to burn it on a DL.

you're correct, it does have to be on DL

*Edit
But then again, from the read me. For those currently on 5.x
(V5.0) Single Layer DVD disc support(+/-R) for both Xbox1 and 360
(V5.0) Xbox1 file ISO support - burn just game files to disk in ISO format
(V5.0) Xbox1 file ISO capacity increase to utilise full disk space for single layer
(v5.0) 360 file ISO support (Work in progress. New QWIX tool to come)
(V5.0) Supports older style XBox1 disk format (just burn game.iso)
(v5.0) Enable0800 disk now supported on single layer disk

I thought you could just reflash the drive as normal?

Thanks for the quick response! I figured DL would be the safest as that should work in all cases, but since I don't remember the exact version, but it is definately a 4.x release, I will burn it to DL.

Thanks again!

EDIT: one more question - I am going to burn this using Imgbrun and it gave an initial warning that it does not need to be burned to a DL, so I just ignored that, then it gave the following:

User specified layer break position is such that L0 < L1 - THIS IS NOT ALLOWED!

Image Size: 129,824
User specified L0 sectors: 1,913,760
Calculated L! sectrors: 4,293,183,360

Would you like to continue

So - should I ingore this too and will it burn correctly?

I think with the Badflash method, you don't need to use the Enable 800
