This is an updated version of the Xenon Gentoo Live CD that includes Samsung support and uses the newest kernel version 2.6.21-1. Plus a few other tweaks to networking code to make it more stable and the framebuffer to improve screen resolution. It still lacks sound support and only works on kernel versions 4532 and 4548.

Download can be found at free60.org

Thanks go out to Cpasjuste, Tmbinc, Masteraxl, Ger0G and anybody I forgot for all their hard work and assistance.

Release Notes:
CODE

gentoo-livecd-xenon-beta-v2
***************************

This is a liveCD for Linux on the Xbox 360. It is based on
the experimental gentoo liveCD that can be found here:
http://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/experimental/ppc64/livecd/
It has a few changes to boot on the Xbox 360 (codename
xenon).

Changes to the previous BETA include:
* New 2.6.21 based kernel
* Improved networking support
* Improved framebuffer kernel level support
* Supports Toshiba-Samsung drives, now

How does it work ?
==================
Burn gentoo-livecd-xenon-beta-v2.iso.
Upload the cdreader binary via serial, or use the new king
kong patcher with built-in readcd code, this will open the
dvd tray.
Put the gentoo-livecd-xenon-beta CD in the drive.
cdreader will automatically start the xell bootloader
located at lba 0x20 on this cd and boot the Linux Kernel.

Thanks to stonersmurf for the compilation of the liveCD.

Thanks a lot to all you who did it for us. This is really great stuff.
I'm just writing from my 360 right at this moment (actually my brothers 360 because my one has the new kernel).
This one is really very usable, especially in comparison to the original Xbox-Linux, which always suffered from low memory.

Just recorded the cd and bootet it up with the Linux Loader. No problems with anything. Perfect.

Thanks again.

I would really like to know how many people are using this. My bet is very few.

Because that comment was really necessary. I mean honestly...wtf. If linux isn't your gig then just move on. No need to stifle the community with your petty negitivity.

Awesome job guys. Really.

VERY NICE. How do you guys keep doing it?
Those of us that love these raw applications of 360 can't get enough of it. Simply keeps getting better.
You guys are simply ROCKING the stability of console hardware with real advances in high quality homebrew.
Keep up the superior work and keep pushing the fight for real legal homebrew.
Not much could be better than that.

Wonderfully said. Hit the nail RIGHT on the head.

I'm tired of seeing douchebag pirates whining because new kinds of mods are coming out.

Crying and flaming just because it's different to what they like to use.

As if they're worthy to insult or downplay technical mods they could never themselves imagine. Densely assuming their own taste onto everyone. They need to be a man for once in their lives.

They can take their sour opinion of every mod they're not personally interested in using, and stick it in their ass. I wish they'd get bent or banned.

Nice work, if only MS would open up XNA more then Linux could be put on the 360 legally. I'm sure MS are in partnership with Novel aren't they? Because if MS is not going to get XP on it, then they better do something if they don't want it hacked like this.

Im really at a loss here! I have a 4532 console, which I havent upgraded or clearly even sampled live yet.. in the hope that oneday I will be able to do both... but so many wonderful chances to xblive, and features like messenger on my xbox360, new file updates...

Id like to know... should I keep my xbox in this pre-virgin state.. or should I reap the benifits of being able to play online connect to live etc...

ur thoughts please..... dry.gif

That depends on which you want more doesn't it?

For me, a fully working Linux install holds more appeal so i'm sticking put, though like you I understand that without updating the console I cant play newer games, which is a shame sad.gif

get the infectus mod..

the latest kernel version is released and they don't check efuse value! so remove the RT63 backup your NAND with infectus modchip (the vulnerable one) then upgrade then backup that one et voila ^^ you have the expoitable & latest NAND content so you can choose which one to load in your xbox..
