Isn't the cable impossible?
What about HANA? wasn't there differences between the chips on both consoles? or am I on crack?

the hdmi cable with 1080i outpout is just useless...
Why not getting 1080p?, that the main interest in buying an elite, is to be sure to get 1080p output on every full HD tv

come on teammxteneder, wake up!

I'm sure their HDMI cable is just gonna be a VGA or Component connection converted to HDMI. Since the original 360 lacks the hardware to output a HDMI signal, the only thing they can do is convert another signal and put it out through a HDMI cable. Sounds like a smart marketing plan. There's gonna be people who won't know the difference and think that their 360 Core/Premium with an Xtender HDMI cable is just as good as an Elite's HDMI connection.

Considering that the component cables can output 1080p for games, I'm not sure exactly why an HDMI cable would be technically limited to 1080i. The only limitation on the component cables is that HD DVD's are restricted to 1080i and DVD's are not upconverted. If there was an HDMI cable that had the same feature set as the component cables (1080p Games / 1080i HD DVD) then it might be cool to have, but there's really no point if it doesn't even do 1080p for games. Currently I use the VGA cable for 1080p games and HD DVD's and upconverted DVD's, looks nice.

It's going to be a vga to dvi-i to hdmi adapter.. basically it's a vga cable that plugs into a hdmi port.

My best guess would be that the conversion system does not support 1080p. Just a guess though.

I use this to go from VGA to HDMI with my 360. Its not cheap, but it works well.

If it's a VGA>DVI>HDMI converter, as in the XBox 360 thinks it's a VGA cable, then technically it should upscale DVDs, since the Xbox 360 upscales DVDs over VGA. It should also be capable of 1080p either way, unless the converter itself cannot output the resolution, I'm not sure if DVI can do that. Still, it would be pretty neat and would be a lot neater than the mess of cables that component causes.

Technically it is going to be much more complicated than that. The dvi-i will not convert to hdmi, because dvi-i is analog, hdmi is digital. Therefore, there will be some sort of box, either built into the base of the connector or separate, that will have some sort of convertion interface to convert analog to digital. As to the 1080i vs p, hard to say why.
