I completed the x-clamp mod and got rid of those evil 3 red lights but now when i turn on the xbox 360 it gets really loud and keeps getting louder..and then i get 2 red lights on the front of the xbox...what can be the problem? I checked up on the 2 light error and it means the xbox is overheating? so does that mean the heatsink was not installed correctly? the heatsimk did get hot when i turned on the xbox during the x-clamp mod so im not sure what the problem is...please help.

Leave the fans unplugged, turn the 360 on and leave it going for about 20 minutes. Plug the fans back in and it should be fine.

When you reapply it, was there a lot of thermal grease left on the heatsink? If there wasn't you need to tighten it more than before

Okay rescrewed everything again harder then before and still every time i turn it on the fans keep speeding up till the 2 red lights flashing? so does that mean the heatsink isnt sitting and contacting the chip correctly?

Most likely yes. Your CPU or GPU are not making full contact with the heatsinks, which is why it would be overheating.

well just tested with 2 washers and i have all green and go..lost plant has run for 20 mins without excessive noise speeding up from the fan or anything..its hard to determine weather or not its cd or fan noise since the burnt games seem to be louder then regular games however its running great...

thanks again to everyone who posted a reply.

just a quick note..i was going to keep a watch on the temp for the GPU and CPU but needed average heats for them? and limits before a overheat will occur. thanks.

I don't know the temps but try to listen to the fans and feel the heat with your hand

Play some games like you normally do, see if anything happens. If not then you might be fine, but it's not safe to say this yet.
