Okay, there are many text descriptions, but some people just dont understand things with just words, then need pics to help them out too. So I figured since no one made a guide with pictures, I would make one. i know that there really isnt a hight demand for this tutorial at the moment but i just thought that since i had some free time on my hands that i would make this short little guide to help someone out.

As the topic suggests, this guide will help you mod an intercooler so that it runs off 12v of power and it has its own power supply.

You can find the .pdf here or here

P.S. If a mod likes this tutorial, then they can pin it in the cooling section sticky at the top *cough* *cough* biggrin.gif

Good work, although wouldn't it be possible, and more convenient to connect the 12V to the inside of the 360 so that it powers on with the 360, and doesn't use an additional plug?

Well, my main reasoning is that just to play it safe, I could plug an external power supply so that absolutely no power is drawn from the xbox 360. One good thing I like about it is that it doesnt cut off with my 360, and its always on, so I can have it cool my 360 down for an extra 10 minutes after I play. And like Navillos said, it wouldnt be removable if it was wired internally.

Actually you could add a breakaway cable so you could unplug it.

oh yea, I forgot to add. My xbox 360 is one of the xboxes that freezes spontaneously. I dont have 3rlod yet *knocks on wood*, but I figured out that my xbox 360 freezes when the dvd-drive gets too hot (the GPU under it heats it up) . Ever since I added the Intercooler to the back of my 360, my dvd drive doesnt get hot, so I get to have 3+hour gaming sessions.

Have you tried RBJTechs airshroud modding guide? As in adding pieces of card to seperate the airflow and to stop the heat rising onto the DVD drive.

great tutorial..

one question though, what if i inadvertently interchanged the (+) and (-) wires? will that make the fans spin the other way around or will that cause some serious problem (short circuit, etc)?

thanks, noob here tongue.gif

Nice mod, I am working on it as we speak. Is there any tutorial out there to add an On/Off Switch to the intercooler?

Thanks.

you know me and me old man were talkin bout that while we were moddin the intercooler, turns out you can put a switch on but your adapter will still be on, convertin uneeded energy

so in the long run, goin behind the telly and switchin the intercooler off with help stop the sea tide rising biggrin.gif

I did this to my intercooler, I have a few questions?, I used a 12v AC/DC 500ma adapter, Does it have to be a AC only adapter? , I'm not sure if i've got the wiring right, Currently cold air is blowing out the back of the cooler (Switch side), I've tried switching the wires over but that results in the fans not working.
