Ok, before I start Id like to note that I have repaired 2 Xbox 360's before this that had 3RLOD. But now, this one has me stumped.

At first, the console gave 3 RLOD, so I decided before getting into it to do the "Towel Trick" and what do you know, it worked! But the console would only stay on for about 5 minutes before overheating. So in I go, do the X clamp replacement, and now it is giving the 3 RLOD again, even though just before I did this it was working good (just overheating). Weird thing is though, it is NOT overheating now! The heatsinks are staying cool and the fans are blowing normally.

So it seems I have fixed the overheating problem, but now am getting the 3RLOD for some other reason?

Also, I would like to note that I replaced the thermal paste with Arctic Silver paste. Is it possible that the Arctic Silver is shorting out some of the chips on the GPU or CPU? I am wondering because some of the paste has gotten on to the legs of some of the chips, would this cause a short? I dont see how, because the old thermal paste was melted everywhere under there....

Out of curiosity, did you do a careful job of spreading the paste out, avoiding components that do not need it?

That could be your problem. Also, maybe try reseating your heatsinks and adjust the number of washers for them. Somehow, it works.

When i replaced my X-clamps at first i didn't tighten them properly so there was a bigger space between the heat sinks n Cpu Gpu, i tightened and bobs your uncle it worked. they that. change the number or washers you used and just mess around abit and it should work.

You still need to do the towel trick again after you are done. At least I had to. But like everyone else said, make sure you tighten the heatsinks down good.

Thanks for the support guys! Well I found out what was wrong. It seems that I had to let it "reset" itself, for some odd reason. I just put everything back together, left it on with the blinking red lights for only a minute, then turned off, then back on and voila! It works! I also added one of those XCM addon fans to help more air circulate.
