Just got to say great job to xbmp!

I only can of image o f the enormous of things they have planned for in the future.

But, may I suggest more of a dashboard feature included. I know there is the ability to launch apps&games, but I think it could be better, more like avalauch or MXM where it gets the pic automatically and has a scroll view.

How about Right Trigger for Fast Forward, and Left Trigger for rewind, A for play/pause, b for stop, etc.

None of this pressing A, then selecting nonsense.

Future goals of features, functions & supported formats include (not supported now):

- DivX 5.05 Playback (inc. all new Pro features), we'll have to wait until FFmpeg or XVID gets it.
- QuickTime < 6.0 (.mov & .qt) (frodo got QT 6.0 video to work via FFmpeg, but not sound yet)*
- Real Media/Audio < 9.0 (.rm & .ra) (frodo got some working but still issues with DLL wrapper)*
- XTrace Debug Client (to be used with XDebug Server) Code/patch already written by Blackbelt
- Auto-detection of xISO/UDF and ISO9660-mode1/2 - Code/patch already written by DFAngel
- DVD playback with menus (authored DVD's movies) (grompf if working on getting this to work)
- PVR - Personal Video Recorder functions using a PC or Server running Snapstream software.
- WebServer for remote control of XBMP (QSilver is working on a patch for this, help is needed)
- OpenDML AVI files (AVI files that can be larger than 2GB)(FFmpeg CVS now support this?)*
- Support for the mms:// Windows Media streaming protocol*
- SGI image/picture viewing support*
- DTS (Digital Theater Sound) audio track playback*
- Audio-CD (CDDA) playback for normal audio CD's*
- Ripping Audio-CD's to MP3 (possible using LAME/MP3 and OGG)*
- CDDB® database support when playing & ripping Audio-CD's*
- VCD/SVCD playback with menus (authored Video-CD's)*
- Xtended-CD (XCD) support (for extended ISO 9660 - Mode 2)*
- 3ivx playback (QuickTime MPEG4)*
- PVR Personal Video Recorder functions using a USB or network TV adapter to the Xbox*
...and many more functions/features HERE

I see dvd-ripping some time in our future smile.gif. That would be great.

Awesome! XBMP will be the most feature-rich mediaplayer on any platform, and raise quite a few eyebrows even outside of the xbox-community and techTV.

Its great to see more file formats supported by xbmp. I would love to see some work going into the interface to make it scalable. XBMP is getting more and more features and without a good interface to expose the features they wont be as useful.

Some UI elements that would be awsome (a lot of which ARE in the sourceforge feature request db):

- displaying mp3's based on song title, artist name, ect.
- sorting based on any of these values
- ability to associate abritrary attributes with files reguardless of their physical location (ie make no distinction between files over relax as files on the hdd). This would allow other people to add customizations such as ratings (each song could be assigned some sort of rating) and sorting based on ratings. XBMP could keep track of how many times each song has been played, ect.
- search capability
- history support, ie the ability to pull up history and it will say what song/video you played and at what time. This could be searchable, sortable just like the other lists. Would give you easy access to go back and play a song that you KNOW you listened to yesterday but dont remember where to find it.
- shuffle play... play random songs from all folders. future customizations could include adding criteria to the shuffle play (ie only select songs with rating higher than X and of genre Y)

It would be cool in the TV Guide function could download the channels right from the XBox. Something like...

Configuration:
- Select your country code
- enter postal code
- It retrieves stations list from server
- Select station from server

Once it is configured, the program could retrieve new channel listings whenever the old ones expire.

The last few DVD rips I have done are using DiVX 5.05 and they play perfectly with XBMP.

mp3Pro plays just fine.

anywho, I'd like to see Visualization feature.
like Visualizations that sync to the music.
And the ablitiy to change the it with the controller. I think it's a little too random as it is now. It will be on something cool then it go to something really dumb looking.

Yes, I totally agree with the triggers being used to fast forward and rewind off the bat. No selecting menus first.
Would prevent me from buying a remote.

Continue the great work.

Regarding remotes, just FYI, it has some nice settings (besides the evident wire hassle ) but i'd remark the direct jumps to a specific time using the number buttons.

Cool!
