Now that banning is starting. Is there a way to update our 360's in the future when we can't connect to live? How do people update their 360 when they don't have live before?

Updates can be download from the xbox web site and burned to cd.
It can be then used to update your xbox without it ever being connected to Live.

And the flip side to this is of course, that games can also refuse to play locally on consoles that fail a ban test and games can force a ban test (update) on a console before playback..

Once MS have a reliable modded test to deduce for banning I see no reason why they cant or wont disable future software..

If they want to play hardball then its easy for them to make all currently banned machines bricked as far as future game releases. Just label all games as 'only playing with 2007 update' or similar and they would have no legal issues either..

True but if they did that they would be exposing their checks to the public(hackers).
This could lead to XBL work arounds.

Thanks for the reply. But where, what site exactly, do can you download the patches directly? I can't find that info anywhere on xbox dot com.

Also what about games like GHII which need a patch to fix probs? Is there a site for downloading that patch as well?

The latest Xbox 360 dashboard updates are usually available on xbox.com. currently the latest spring 07 dash update has not been released for offline update but should be soon.

Dashboard Updates Page: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemus...wareupdates.htm

Offline Updates are to be burned to disc and then inserted into the console it will then prompt you to update.
