I have a wireless belkin router but it's too far from the xbox. I'm thinking either run a 50 ft ethernet cat5e cable to the router, which is nuts ... or do an alternative ... somehow. Is there a way?
Like for example, have another wireless router or hub or whatever that connects to the main (belkin wireless) router, then have the xbox connects wiredly to the second router/hub/whatever. Again, I'm newbie in networking. Thanks for help or tips Edit1: I am aware of the adapter that can do this, but it's $80+... this may the only way though. Sigh. Just to let you know, I believe it is possible to do all that wireless stuff, but I think it would cost more than it should. If it was me with the problem I would run the 50ft ethernet cable. I looked on eBay its only $10.00 with shipping & handling included.

The cable is the best way (becasue it is cheep, and because it is extreamly robust)
But if you don't want to run the cable, you can often get a wireless ethernet extender off ebay for less than $50 You could try something like this Or you can buy a second wireless router. but you must insure that it can opperate in repeater mode. that means using the wireless as the WAN port, and routing that to the LAN ports. If you can find a router that will run HyperWRT with Thibor or DD-WRT, that will work perfect. This post has been edited by Andronicus: Jun 7 2007, 06:20 PM |
