I did the heat gun trick to my xbox360 about 4 months ago and replaced the X clamps and all has been good except for the fact that I have never been able to eject the DVD or power on the box at the console. I have either had to use the remote or the controller to accomplish these two tasks. While fixing another 360 today I tried to swap out the IR board thinking that would fix my power on issue, but it did not. What exactly could be wrong that is causing these to buttons not to work.

The connect button seems to be working just fine when adding a new controller.

You probably made a short doing the heatgun-method.

Perhaps you bent the socket that the IR board plugs into? Though, that wouldn't explain the eject button.
