 Hddhackr Error No Drive Found |

I have just tried to modify my new western digital hard drive with the hddhackr program – when I boot into dos and I try to run the program I receive the error:- No Drive found in Enhanced mode, now scanning in legacy mode
Type the nr of the drive you want to use (1 to 4, x=exit)I believe that my sata controller is ICH8R and my PC model is HP DC7600 I have included details of my hardware from msinfo32:- I’m not sure if anyone can help me with this as I have tried to search the internet and forums for help but I haven’t got very far. That's an intel. It should work in legacy mode, just like the hddhacker proposes. It should list your WD drive. If not, try changing your SATA controller in bios to 'legacy mode' instead of 'enhanced mode' (it seems you might have set it to 'enhanced mode' currently in your bios). BTW, be careful in legacy mode, that you're selecting the right device and not some IDE device (especially take care if you have another WD drive in your system, don't flash the wrong HDD !) i reall need help with this, i just bough a new bevs and im getting the same nr error, it says looking for the drive in enhanced mode which fails after which it looks for it in legacy mode and then asks me for the nr, why is this  ive taken out my info from msinfo32 its the following:

open hddhackr in hex editor and scroll all the way to the bottom. youll see the numbers 4D 50 52 54 as being the last numbers replace those numbers with 30 C8 30 C0 and then save the program and restart your computer and re run it. it should then detect your SATA and work |

I'm having the same problem as the other two guys. I can't provide the information that they did because I'm running ubuntu, and as somewhat of a noob I don't know a program that would grab this kind of info.
Help is appreciated.

I've tried a HP tx2000 laptop and a Sony Vaio laptop with a BEVS-VAT, no luck. Same problem as these other folks.
Both computers I get the "No drive found" (or similar) error, and neither laptop has many options to play with in the BIOS Setup, such as Legacy mode.
I've tried every SATA port on these machines, and hex edited the values found in these threads... ending in 60, 70, C0, and another value I can't recall.
The Vaio is a PCG-8Z2L, with an Intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (According to Device Manager).
Please, any suggestions are welcomed. (Sorry for posting similar versions of this in multiple threads - it's difficult to tell which will engender current responses)

I was using Name Intel® ICH8R/DO/DH SATA RAID Controller I also edited hddhackr to look for my specific port numbers (in your case you would've replaced the 4D 50 52 54 with D8 80 D4 80?) and copied the edited version of hddhackr to my bootable flash drive. I also ripped out all the power and data feeds to all my sata drives excepts the BEVS, which i plugged into sata port 1. I also went into my BIOS settings and changed sata operation from "raid on" to "raid autodetect/ata". That's in a dell bios though. I thought it wasn't going to make a difference but as soon as i powered up ran the command for hddhackr it detected it straight away. Anyway give that a whirl, probably not any help but i thought i'd post anyway, because i know how frustrating it is.

From what i understand (based on his port numbers with 7) wouldn't he have to plug in 30 E4 30 C0?

is it possible to get some help too? i would like to know how to work out the hex editing then i can do mine and help others. here is my information and hddhackr doesnt detect my WD1200bevs

Close  . But your looking for the string that has the last numbers 7, and from that u get the last 4 digits of the code BEFORE the hyphen. i.e. For the SATA controller on IRQ Channel 23, the code would be 09 F0 09 70 And for your other Sata controller it would be 09 E0 09 60 Have you been following the tutorial here? http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=660096 It explains how to everything. Basically u need open up hddhckr in a hex editor (i use win hex, it's pretty easy to use), scroll down to the last string, which is 6F 72 74 3D 4D 50 52 54 and replace 4D 50 52 54 with, in your case 09 F0 09 70. Save it, then copy that edited hddhckr to your bootable floppy/flash drive. What i did was disconnect everything bar a power and data feed for the WDBEVS. Plug it into SATA port 0 or 1. Power up your pc and enter your bios settings, change your SATA controller settings to legacy mode if you can. Save settings and exit, then resume process as normal. If it still doesn't detect, try the other port 0 or 1. If you're still having no luck (don't forget to change bios settings back to normal if OS doen't load) , go into a hex editor again and change the last string again 4D 50 52 54 if you opened up the original hddhckr or 09 F0 09 70 if you're changin the already edited one, and change the code to 09 E0 09 60. save and exit, copy it to your bootable device. Same deal, check Bios settings and make sure WDBEVS is the only thing plugged in, try SATA 0 and 1. Hope that helps. Lettuce know how you go. |

IRQ Channel IRQ 9 So, I've read the readme.txt included w/ hddhackr, read several threads (including the ones linked to on this thread), compared other examples to verify my logic, and I'm still stuck! If I'm not mistaken, I want to work with the addresses from the 1st and 3rd I/O Ports listed in msinfo32: #1) 0x0000B880-0x0000B887 #3) 0x0000B480-0x0000B487 This thread says to use the ones ending with 7's, and the hdd hacker readme says it should be the ones with a difference of 7. Either way indicates these 2 I/O ports --> They both end with 7, and the difference within the addresses before and after the hyphen is 7 too. So, I hex edited the last 4 bits in hddhackr as follows:
Original = 4D 50 52 54 CHANGED TO
For my Intel ICH8R/ICH9R = B8 80 B4 80I copied over the hddss.bin and my edited version of hddhackr.com to a floppy boot disk, shut down, removed all drives from SATA, plugged in my WD1200bevs as the one and only SATA device plugged in, and booted from the floppy. hddhackr still won't detect my hdd! I've tried different SATA connections to my mobo, and also some recommendations for other ICH8R/ICH9R SATA controllers that I've seen on this and other threads (D8 80 D4 80, C8 80 C4 80). No dice. I even tried on a different computer, but it wouldn't work either. I can't figure out what the code should be on the other comp b/c it doesn't display the I/O data in msinfo32 under either SCSI or IDE.  PLEASE HELP!!! |

Per the recommendation of a response on another forum, I also tried replacing the last 4 bits with I/O's for #1 and #3 seperately: B8 80 B8 87 and B4 80 B4 87. Tried it on every SATA port I have. Also retried what I first thought would be correct ( B8 80 B4 80), on every SATA port, shutting down between each swap. I'm pretty certain now that the Intel ICH8R/ICH9R SATA controller on the Asus IPIBL-LB motherboard (on most HP Pavillion models from 2008) is incompatible with HddHackr. If anybody else can confirm or deny, please do, but I actually understand what I'm doing with the hex editor and it just doesn't work. Anyway, I just ordered a PCI to SATA card with the VIA 6421A SATA chipset. Since pretty much everybody (who doesn't already have SATA that works for 360 purposes) uses this, it's gotta work.  |

Yea that sucks it didn't work in the first place. I had a heap of trouble with this as well, but everything i did, i posted up. U didn't mention that you checked your BIOS settings, that's an important step as well. I also have the Via 6421 card as well. Comes in handy for other things as well. Check the I/o's for that card as well, if you're still having trouble detecting in hddhckr
