About a week ago I got the 3 Rlod, error code 0102. I havent really messed with it since then. Today, I used the towel method and to my surprise, it turned on, and I was able to play for a few hours before it froze. It is still working right now, but I do not believe it will last.

Should I try to using the eraser method, the x-clamp method, or sending it in to microsoft. Since this is a launch console, it isn't under warranty, but will Microsoft still fix it if I open it up and do one of these methods?

Once you open it. They will not repair it for you.

From what I recall, Launch consoles (with a manufacture date of October 19th 2005 +/- 7 days or so) will be repaired by Microsoft even if they are out of warranty (not warranty voided).

Give them a call and mention that to them and they should repair it.

I just called, and I mentioned that it was a launch console (manufactured on Oct 28, 2005). The person I talked to didn't mention anything about a free repair, and that it would cost 140$.

So I don't know if I should try and fix it myself for 10$, or send it in and pay 140$.

I forgot to mention it also depends on who from Microsoft you speak to... some Customer Reps are nicer than others.

You can call them back another day and explain again... maybe you will get lucky.

Here is a video reference:

Good luck!

EDIT: I also have another source for you to check out... if you some how magically get your 360 working.
