Help Plz...getting Drive Back Into ModeB. Options

i recently just restored to the original xbox360 firmware....now here is the problem; i having the toughest time trying to get windows to recognize my drive ( getting it into ModeB)

before i could hook up my sata wire, to my sata card and 360 drive, and open the tray of the 360, and that would put me into ModeB...( I originally crossed wired to get into ModeB)

so my question is; Should i be able to use the Sata technique if my drive is in it's original firmware? Or am i going to have to Cross Wire the drive again to put it into ModeB?
When i start windows with the Sata cable connected; it does state my drive at the beginning of the boot process ( HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR3) but when i get into windows, i don't see the drive letter anywhere..??

Any Suggestion or Help...and how do you know when your first into ModeB??

hook up your drive to your pc... then boot with slax2.1 in your xbox....

have you already flashed the drive? if your hitachi already has the xtreme 2.4 flashed to it, you can get it to boot into mode B by powering on the drive while the tray is ejected. ( i did this by ejecting the tray, turning off the power in a way that left the tray open, then powering back up.)

other then that, cross wire it or use SLAX (slax is much safer)

I could never get the Slax way to work..

but do i put the slax cd in the 360 or in my computer drive...sort of a newbie question i know..

i guess i will try that way again...

you hook your 360 drive up to your computer, and put the slax disc in the PC drive.

i had on the Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2

and i wanted to put the new updated one on..
so i restored my drive to oringal state, now i can't get it back into ModeB..

have you tryd slax live to get it in mode i used this and it worked try puting it in to xb load it eject keep it open turn power off take slax out put power on (note dont turn off by the wall pull plug out the back of xb )

if in mode b ) it will take 2 pressers to load tray back in

i flashed about a year ago, so its possible i'm not remembering the details properly, however i'm 90% sure that i put it in my pc drive. regardless, can't hurt to try both ways if your having trouble getting slax to work.
