Epic Games' Gears of War "Mad World" TV-Spot received a Silver Lion over at the Cannes Festival in the category "Best Use of Music". The advertising agency responsible for this commercial is the McCANN WORLDGROUP from San Francisco. At was already announced earlier that Blue Dragon won a Gold Lion for the Blue Dragon 'Big Shadow' outdoor advertising. You probably all saw the Gears of War commercial tons of times already either on TV, the cinemas or on the internet ... but in case you lived on another planet or just want to see it again, here it is ... I completely agree with that, choosing the song mad world for that ad made it like 10X better that it would have been with some other song. It fits together very well

I think that most people really liked the song from Gary Jules. After the commercial was launched it was in top charts on several radio stations. It deserves this award.

But hey I knew about this song before that commercial thanks to Donnie Darko!

Donnie Darko is absolutely incredible!


This Gears of War ad was a very creative and well thought-out piece of advertising - with the music absolutely making the full impact of the ad expressed. Good work and congratulations for the recognition.

Tears For Fears definently gets a thumbs up, I have both versions of the song and i really like them. But Gary Jules version is better IMHO

I like how the song and the video seem to parallel, because Fenix is battling through this chaotic world while the song is about a "Mad World".

When I think of the song "Mad World" I think of Donnie Darko first, Gears of War second. And honestly, it fits Donnie Darko a million times better.

Darko is awesome btw, it has a an awesome sounds track if you like 80s music at all... The unoriginal song featured in the Gears commercial was heard first in the movie donnie darko (2001), It was specificially remade for that movie. That's why people always chime in.

wow, i saw the commercial and I thought it was very cheap because the music did not fit it well. I like the song though.

can't believe how many people disagree. I almost hated the commercial because of the poor choice in music.
