hey guys i was trying to change the lights in my ROL board and in the middle led trace broke. it was the negative trace. so is there any other trace i can draw a wire to and get the same effect like normal? thanks.

If you didn't tear the trace up really bad it may be fixable. If it's been torn back to the Via there you can attach it to the bottom left leg of D8 there, or to the top of R24 on the back of the board.

Even if the track is completly removed you can hardwire it (by connecting a wire to the negative and linking it to its orginal place) therefore the electricity would travel along the wire without needing a track.

it wasnt like a line it was the little square metal thing that came off. is there anywhere i can take a wire to, like if i followed the trace to a little hole and solder a wire to it or something like that.

That's not called a trace then, that's called a "Pad" and is where the Surface Mount part's lead sits, then is soldered to.

I've already told you the spots you can run the wire to as well.

here's the one I destroyed. fixed it with a jumper wire. no harsh comments on the soldering please. biggrin.gif

this one came out a little better.

inverted red/green

glad this tutorial was revised , I don't think I'd be able to do the original one.
