Warner Bro's Total HD Format Delayed To 2008
Posted by XanTium | June 28 22:49 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From ign.com:
[QUOTE]
Way back in January, shortly before CES, Warner Brothers announced it would premier a new disc technology for next-gen DVD players that would press HD-DVD material on one side and Blu-ray data on the other. The unique combo format, dubbed Total HD, was planned as a means of mitigating consumer fear in choosing one warring format over the other. The first titles on the new format were scheduled to begin appearing at retail this month.

Warner Brothers has now announced that its Total HD discs will in fact not be making an appearance in 2007 at all. No details were provided as to why the delay was necessitated, though Warner is now apparently aiming for a launch in early 2008.

Maybe with these newer formats coming and some being cheaper to make and players cheaper they think the market might buy them. ANd they only have 2 sides on a disc tongue.gif

What happens if none of them win... They would loose alot of dollers.

Translation: "We don't think one format will last long (HD-DVD) therefore we're going to hold off a bit longer to see where we stand by the end of the year. Then if one of the formats (blu-ray), is pulling even further ahead, we'll just pull the plug on this Total HD thing and not waste our money."

Neither are going to be the consumer success that CD and DVD have been.

BD may find its use in the computer world but as a hd disc medium I don't think so.

Toot your own horn if you must but both formats are a bust at this point.

I'd much rather Buy a movie on a flash memory based card.

Or download / stream it to my viewing device through a 100Mbps Fiber Optic line.

laugh.gif Yeah pretty much. But not to start a huge argument...last I heard the Toshiba HD-DVD player after making those $100 price-cuts was out selling the PS3 70-30, and we all know the BluRay format is basically the PS3...
