2008 Football Games Will Run Smoother on the 360 than PS3
Posted by XanTium | July 2 15:07 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From xbox360fanboy.com:
[QUOTE]
1UP is reporting that all the heavy hitting football games coming out this year (Madden 08, NCAA Football 08, and All-Pro Football 2K8) will be running best on the Xbox 360. 30 frames smoother to be exact. 1UP says that they've confirmed with developers that the 360 versions of each football game will run at a buttery smooth 60 frames per second while the PS3 version will have to settle for 30 frames per second. What does that mean? Well, it means animations will be smoother, faster and less jarring than the PS3 version.

Not to sure I believe this, what developers did they confirm with. I would believe it if it came from the developers rather than 1up.

hmmm.. The article doesn't say why apart from they think ps3 developers just can't be arsed. Anyone know for sure if there's any truth in this and why?.

Yes it's true

Everybody already knows that GPU in PS3 is only slightly upgraded midrange GF7600GT taken from PC at the last moment when it came to light that projected 2xCell PS3 with no GPU would mighty su*** compared to X360.
128bit 8ROP 500Mhz 256MB DDR3.
Only pixel shaders were doubled from 12 to 24.

Thats why custom built GPU in X360 being newer technology (nearly DX10 card) beats it in most cases.

Framerate on PS3 ports sucks like in
MLB2K7 (framerate and weaker visuals)
http://www.gamespot.com/features/6171831/p-7.html

and before it in

FEAR [ http://ps3.ign.com/articles/782/782476p2.html ]

"Simply put, the PS3 doesn't hold a candle to the visuals found in the Xbox 360 version -- especially considering the handful of bugs that have dead soldiers getting stuck in walls and twitching on the floor. The detailed environments and clear draw distances aren't found on PS3. If you had never seen the other versions of F.E.A.R., you still wouldn't be impressed with the PS3's graphics, but compared to the PC and 360, this version is graphically dead in the water."

Also framerate problems!
http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3158930
"First among F.E.A.R.'s transgressions is the nauseating framerate. This isn't me being metaphorical here; the framerate in this game is so bad that it literally made me feel nauseated after any appreciable playtime. We're talking about something in the realm of 20 fps; that's just inexcusable for an FPS. This isn't the kind of thing that only graphics snobs notice; this is a genuine, game-affecting problem.

What's worse is that, as a result of this, there's a perceptible lag between hitting the fire button and bullets actually coming out of your gun. And we still haven't exhausted the game's experience-killing technical issues; there's also a frequent audio glitch that periodically makes it impossible to determine what direction shots are coming from. This is fairly important information in an FPS, you know. And then there's the online play, which offers some interesting gameplay modes and a nice selection of levels and game options...and then shoots itself in the foot by providing no means of communication with your teammates whatsoever. No, not even in the lobby. No, not even preset phrases. I mean, really. What the hell?"

Enchanted Arms http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3159298

"Graphically, the Xbox 360 version wins. The characters look a bit sharper on the PS3, but the lighting looks washed out, and there are even issues with bumpy framerates and graphical pop-up when exploring larger areas -- and there are a lot of large areas in Enchanted Arms. Also, the Xbox 360 had online aspects, whereas the PS3 version does not."

The Darkness
IGN: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/799/799624p3.html

"The PlayStation 3 version is virtually identical to the 360, other than the occasional aliasing issues and sporadic slowdown."

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas
IGN: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/799/799830p2.html

"One area that Rainbow Six: Vegas on the PlayStation 3 does fall a little short on when compared to the other versions is with regards to visuals. It's a nice looking game to be sure, but the whole thing doesn't look quite as sharp as it could. Colors are a little duller and there isn't as much use of certain effects, like bloom lighting and such. Some folks may appreciate that aspect to a certain degree, but beyond that it still doesn't look quite as nice as what we've seen previously. Some texture work isn't quite as sharp, and the characters aren't as detailed as what's found in the 360 release, especially in the faces. Weapons that have been dropped pop in and out of view as you approach and walk away when they're but a mere 50 feet or so away.

Also, as we've mentioned in one of our last previews of the game, there's a weird issue when running the title in 1080i as everything, including the menus, look very blurry. It's pretty sharp when played at 720p, which leads us to believe that at 1080i the game is still rendering at 720p and then upscaling the output image to 1080i, but poorly." etc.

and many other games

etc. etc. etc..................

The article itself is a bit of a troll. Let's talk when the games are actually released for both systems.

I'd actually be willing the bet the 360 versions do run faster (and I have a PS3 but no 360 yet). I think in many cases at this point in time developers are designing for the 360, as the developer tools are more mature, and then hoping that they can do a basic port over to the PS3 and it will be 'OK'. Which is pretty much true - the ports will be OK, but not as good as the system it was really designed for.

well its is a fact wile cell might be a better prosser then the 360 sony droped the ball on it on sevrel fronts. tossing in a weaker gpu then the 360 means 360 games will always look beter. they might not be huge there defently will always be a diffrence. when will the sony fanboys wake up and relise the ps3 was knothing more then a tool to try to roll out blueray. the same for the ps2 and dvd but you got a good console as well i relly did wish that was the case with the ps3.

befor you rant calling me a sony fanboy thers reasions i dont like ps3. i dont like the 6 axes remote the things flimsy and lacks dule shock. no real games for it for the fact they lost nearly all there exculsivs and pretty mutch every game for it is on the 360 or wii. that also makes cost a issue sence i can play the same game on the 360 and the 360 is cheaper. i also dont buy into that hd dvd/blueray/lddvd and whatever they think up next so i have no need or whant for a hd player. trust me standerd dvds on a progressiv player look just find on a hd setup the diffrence is so small its sad.

im shure thers people who find falts in the 360 over the ps3 and decided to go that rought the main being the 360s high faler rate. and i relly hope there ps3 does not become a expensiv doorstop couse we all knoe how well there doing in sales and the debt sony got on themselfs creating that dead horse.

This story has been confirmed as being true. An EA rep has repeated this and confirmed that the PS3 version will be 30fps while the 360 version will be 60fps. 2K games has not come out and said anything official however.

Is it me or the guy on the 360 version from this pic looks like Bill Gates?

Anyway,
Paying $600 on a system that many consider more "powerful" than the 360 is inexcusable. But i also think since the ps3 hasn't been around that much, next year there will be more improvement on game visuals.

Not great news for Sony. It is becoming increasingly obvious that third parties are struggling with the architecture and development tools.

Hello Fellow Gamers. Well, you should all know by now that the X360 GPU is far better than the PS3 GPU. That's a PROVEN FACT. Now, with that being said..let's move on.

I'm sick & tired of people saying "Wait until next year". Hell.. I've been hearing that for almost 2yrs. How many more years will these people keep saying that same old song? Do you think that they've stop improving on the X360? If you do then keep on dreaming, cause there's nothing graphically that the PS3 can do that the X360 can't.

I mean there's some games coming out on the X360 next year that'll put the PS3 to shame. It's coming ..We all know this. Sure there's going to be some great looking PS3 titles to come out. But when? I'm not waiting another 2 or 3 yrs. for that to happen. I'm enjoying them right now on my X360 & so should you.

Point is that M$ has way better programming libraries than SONY. The X360 is easier to program for, which means more time will be spent on developing better game content & less time creating the game. XNA is still maturing, but in time it'll make developing games a snap for companies that don't have the BIG budgets. Is SONY even making something on that level for small companies? Uhm no.... Does SONY even have something close to XNA or even similar ? UUUhhmm..no. should they ? Yes.

Again ..in the end it all boils down to the games & the features.
