Ok let me start by typing “sorry if this is long”.

I don’t know about all of this hacking stuff or much about computers for that matter. I am a gamer though and my beloved Xbox 360 died. The dvd drive broke, it broke where the two disk holders meet. the magnet broke inside while playing GEARS, anyway I ordered a new one on eBay. it’s a GDR-3120L but of course being a man I did not read the description all the way . It says that I need dump and rekey and do stuff you guys know how to do. I will not ask how to do all of that. I would like to know if I could just take the board out of the new dvd drive and swap with the old one. Or if you guys have any simpler solutions. I would hate to buy a new one I just don’t have the money right now but halo 3 is coming. Please help

A straight board swap should work no problem. You might have to tweak the POT on the laser a bit as it wont be calibrated properly but it should work.

Fixing the magnet it also possible.. it is a fairly common problem to have the magnet detach and get stuck to the top of the DVD metal case.
