Frosty's BFM VGA BIOS Pack with PBL Metoo
Posted by XanTium | July 10 21:00 EST | News Category: Xbox

FrostyTheSnowman released a new VGA package for Xbox1. From readme/nfo:
[QUOTE]
Purpose: I have created this package to assist those who have wanted to try native VGA on the XBOX, but did not want to flash their BIOS or change their softmod to do it. This release includes all current features and code from VGA Patcher v0.8 in the BIOS files included within this package.

Features:
* Includes BFM Versions of Xecuter, iND, & Evox BIOS Files (Prepatched w/VGA Patcher v0.8)
* Includes Phoenix BIOS Loader (Metoo Edition)
* Supports v1.0-v1.5 XBOX Consoles
* Supports Conexant Encoders
* Supports Focus Encoders
* Supports all HD resolutions, including 480p, 720p, and 1080i.
* Supports 'green screen' games!
* Compatible with all current modchips and softmods*!

NOTE: Softmods can only use the Xecuter X2 5035 BIOS. (use x2config.ini to point to your dashboard)

Just so everyone knows where to find it:

/XBOX/Console Based Applications/exploits/Bios Patchers and Loaders/Frostys BFM VGA BIOS Pack/

Enjoy. happy.gif

NOTE: You still need at least 480p to be enabled to use this package.

Here's an old post from my 'Full VGA Support for Modchips!' thread that should help those who need help creating a native VGA cable for their XBOX:

NOTE: The Microsoft XBOX HD Pack w/Component-to-VGA Cable is the easiest option if you have a Sync-on-Green compatible monitor. happy.gif

QUOTE
You have three options for building a VGA cable. First, you can build an LM1881N VGA cable (best option), this cable is compatible with ALL VGA monitors. Second, you can build a Sync-On-Green VGA cable, which is ONLY compatible with Sync-On-Green VGA monitors. Third, you can simply purchase an XBOX HD Pack, and use a Component-to-VGA adapter, but, this option is also ONLY COMPATIBLE with Sync-On-Green VGA monitors.

Here are some pictures:

Great news. Keep up the excellent work Frosty! I can't wait if/when VGA Patcher 0.9 is released with 'force' progressive option.

Yep, as long as your VGA monitor supports Sync-on-Green, it will work fine. happy.gif (although 3rd party packs tend to have a lower quality picture)

No reason why it shouldn't, but why not just use the component ports?

Awesome work Frosty, once again (I am personally sticking with your VGA patcher on the Evox M8 TSOP flash, but this is pretty awesome).

Hey Frosty, I've got a question for you. I have a Sony Multiscan 520GS 21" monitor that I have used for a while with the Xbox and your VGA softmod and more recently your BIOS. It works fine using the HD pack going into the RGB BNC connectors on the back. It even works with a regular old HD composite cable with not circuitry. However with the HD pack and the VGA cable like you have pictured I get an out of scan range error message on the monitor. I tried it on a Sony 19" monitor I have and got the same results. I tried it on another couple of monitors and it did not work either.

Any ideas? I figured if it would work with a Monster RGB cable which does not seem to have any circuitry on it with the BNC connector input the same monitor would allow the HD pack/vga connector cable to work, but no go.

Not all companies follow the 'standard' when it comes to these types of cables, so it might be your actual cable. But as long as your monitor supports Sync-on-Green, it should at least show something.

Of course, it could also just be that your monitor is more tolerant to the XBOX's non-standard sync signals when you are using your BNC input. Surprisingly enough, there is actually a lot of monitors out there that refuse to work with the XBOX, even with the more advanced 'Internal Sync' VGA cable and the LM1881N-based VGA cables.

NOTE: Also, are you 100% sure that at least 480p is enabled in your Microsoft Dashboard? Because you might just be feeding your monitor a 480i signal over the BNC connections, which some monitors CAN handle... which would explain why the VGA connector on your monitor and other monitors cannot accept the signal. (VGA cannot sync with 480i, only 480p and above)
