X79 Chip Back On Track - RRP 15usd
Posted by XanTium | July 11 12:30 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From Team Xecuter:
[QUOTE]
It seems that the news posted regarding a software only method to flash the Hitachi v79 drive was incorrect and a hardware mod is still required after all - so the X79 mod is back on track !

We have finished 3 of the 4 firmwares and will finish the design this week. The X79 will suppor all Hitachi v79 versions and will enable the drive to automatically switch to modeb and then you can read and write the firmware using software (like the Maximus Toolbox).

The RRP of the mod is set at $15 and you will be able to buy it shortly from most good stockists.

Needing to be soldered, can it be removed and reused or does it need to stay on to work? Do you only need it to flash it and then it can be removed?
Thanks,
Cale

My *guess* is that it is something like the passkey79 that maximus/carranzafp got.

That one can be desoldered after use, but they recommend it to be left in...

I'd like to see what points it uses to solder to. Will it need the epoxy to be removed like maximus'?

Whats the best(safe) way to remove epoxy. I think a hot air gun might be to much. What temp do you need to melt the epoxy?

yes nice chip but i would rather the maximus passkey79 because it supports all 4 dumps of the hitachi and this one only has 3 dumps also maximus created the toolbox to use this chip !

I was just thinking the same thing and it will prob be cheaper for us UK people then Xecuter products which tend to be very expensive over here for what they are.

There is something about Maximus I can't undersand: if you look here

http://www.maximusgames.net/79passkeyinfo.php?opt=3

It seems like it will cost "RETAIL PRICE: $15 USD " BUT if you go to the pre-order page, clicking the voice pre-order in the main page:

http://www.maximusgames.net/clasificacion....clasif=360_MODS

It's written

79 Pass Key: Flat Cable Option
Clasificacion: 360_MODS
Precio: $200

79 Pass Key: Wire option
Clasificacion: 360_MODS
Precio: $160

blink.gif ph34r.gif

So? How much is it?
