E3: Microsoft hints at European Elite pricing
Posted by XanTium | July 11 22:26 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From gamesindustry.biz:
Microsoft has said that the European price relationship between Xbox 360 Elite and Premium will be similar to the relationship between the two SKUs in North America.

"If you compare it to the price difference between Xbox 360 Elite and Premium in the US, you wouldn't be far off," UK marketing head Steve McGill told GamesIndustry.biz.
Guess that means the Elite will be sold around 479 EUR in Europe.

Well, obviously HDMI is pretty useless unless you have a free port for it on your LCD TV. Most normal LCD TV's just have a single port (most of the time it is used for a DVD player or a media center) and it's not worth buying an expensive tuner/receiver for just that. And not many people do own TV's with so many ports.

And then you have to wonder: do you actually see the difference in quality if you use the correct cables? Sure, you might see it if you push your face on the TV. The question is: do you also see the difference from your couch?

No but what happens if you have the HD-DVD and they turn on the HDCP flag in the coming years when studios use it, I don't want to watch content in 480p thanks.

If it is around £350 I can't see UK people really interested in buying one due to if the info about PS3 is correct one of them will only be about £375.

They need to not go over the £300 mark for it to be successful or throw in a hd-dvd drive for about £360

I would agree with that. But for the moment Xbox 360 got the games, which is fair more valuable than pricing imo. Give it a few months and the prices may need to be reduced.

To me I think £330 is to expensive anyway yet again UK gets screwed on price.

I can see it flopping at that price and people just going for PS3 just because it has the extra blu-ray drive for few quid more making it far better value on that front but game wise the 360 is killing it at the moment but how many people really are going to go out straight away and buy like 3/4 games not many most will buy 1 or 2.

Just as the rest of Europe does.

But that's nothing compared to the prices that I have to deal with. Here, where I live, a 360 Pro costs ~£300
