Reaction: Moore's departure 'a huge loss for Xbox'
Posted by XanTium | July 18 13:17 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From gamepro.com:
[QUOTE]
"Ultimately, I don't think who is running the company will help or hurt gamers, but I do believe losing Moore hinders the image of 'hip with the kids' that the Xbox team has pushed since its start," said Game Informer editor Andy McNamara in an interview with USA Today. "Mattrick [incoming president] is very skilled, but I don't think he portrays the same swagger that Moore brought to Microsoft."

Geoff Keighley, a Spike TV host, thinks Microsoft's image will take a hit from losing Moore. "This is a huge loss for Xbox... Gamers will no doubt wonder what this means for the future of the platform. Xbox 360 will be fine. Peter's not the visionary behind the platform, but he was the voice and the soul of that whole division of Microsoft and the public cheerleader. Xbox will continue on without Peter, but I have a feeling that his departure will knock some wind out of the platform," he said.

^^^^
Chorizo you know what they mean....

Moore is a huge loss for the Xbox's image.
I don't agree with Geoffe that this might knock some wind out of the X360.
But Moore was very instrumental in bringing in more and new 3rd and 2nd party support for the X360.

I don't think the biggest issue in the story is the departure of Moore, but the real scary thing about this is that M$ just hired the former head of EA as his replacement.
That guy's image is like the opposite of Moore's.
We all know his track record over at EA, can this lazy guy continue to push the Xbox 360 forward?
Stay tuned pop.gif

I completely agree. Moore was pretty hyper and in tune with the market. I don't believe this new guy is, and he looks a lot more like an established nerd than any kind of bad-ass. He should hire a right-hand man that fits the xbox look.

the average gamer would not give a shit about moore. they dont even know who he is..
why would they care and how would M$ take a hit.. its all about marketing, and everyone already knows about the system.

I agree. It's not like they don't ask him to "add this" or "make that free" on his blog already....

Peter Moore has never influenced me to buy a game nor did he ever create a game I played. No loss here...

Yeah, Major Nelson is funny. Moore did do a great job, and we'll miss him. But with this new guy, things wont be that much different. Moore was great at what he did, and I think this new guy will be too. No worries for me.
