Well... seeing as no one has done a tutorial on this yet, I will do it (I know its sad that some people find it hard to open the xplorer guitar).

Its pretty simple:

Tools you'll need:
Phillips Screwdriver (you'll need big and small headed tips)
IPB Image

Remove these screws:

When you remove them just pull off the "top" or "back" or the guitar which is the same piece in which you just removed the screws in.

Once you get it open it should look something like this:
IPB Image
Same thing... remove the screws highlighted.

Note: Be careful when you remove the whammy bar and make sure you remember how its assembled because I dropped mine by accident and I had to put it back on.

The neck is pretty much the same thing.... just remove the screws and pick up the "back" part of it. Once open, you will see the buttons. Just remove them or leave them on there but you have to take off the little board on it. Just use the screwdriver to remove those screws.

At the bottom part of the neck, you will see four screws... remove those and remove the neck from the body of the guitar.

You should have this so far:
Body and Neck
IPB Image
Fret Buttons and Start/Back/Guide/D-Pad
IPB Image
All the boards

And well... that's pretty much it. To assemble it back together just retrace your steps. I painted mine Flat Black and Red.. don't know why it looks like orange though.

Happy modding!

Not gonna happen because of the way the game responds to controllers vs. the actual Guitar. Yes it can be done, but it will not work the same way as the Guitar does, thus subtracting from the way the game is played, so in essence not really being done since it can't be done 100%.

I wonder if someone could combine this with a battery pack? In effect it is wireless USB HUB.

Or what about doing what the PS2 wireless controllers did, you have a USB connector to receive the signal, and inside the controller a USB to wireless thing?

I don't even play this game, but I think I'll look into doing something similar for the Ace Combat 6 controller (Heh, that game is the whole reason I bought an Xbox360 and not a PS3)

edit: This comment is very funny, on the wireless USB on Engadget:

Wireless USB Kit + XBox 360 Wired Guitar + Duct tape = $300 wireless guitar

The 360 controllers all have a security chip in them, so you can't use just any USB peripheral on it, only things that M$ allows, so that Wireless USB idea is right out. The only way to do it Wireless 100% would be to gut the Guitar mainboard and replace it with a transmitter that sent signals of what button you pressed to a receiver that ya had wired up to the mainboard that was plugged into the 360.

could you not solder the 4 usb wires to the inside of the usb hub and then hide that in the guitar. then you could use the usb reciever on the 360. idk if this is what you where thinking or if it is what you rdc has said isnt possible

The only way to do it 100% is the way I just described, that or wait for the Wireless Guitar to come out and just buy it. wink.gif

I seriously hope not, though that would get around having to pay for the Wireless rights that M$ is all tight arsed about and not letting 3rd party manufactures get in on, which is a good/bad thing since some of those controllers are right crap in a hat. If the new Wireless Guitar isn't fully Wireless (like the controllers are) and it has to have a receiver plugged into the 360 taking up a port, then the thing better be cheap.
