Bill Gates On Sony And Social Gaming
Posted by XanTium | August 2 13:39 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From spong.com:
[QUOTE]
Speaking at a Microsoft investor chat Microsoft's Chairman and Chief Software Architect - William Gates - made sure to take a swipe at Sony, and totally ignore Nintendo. He also came some way towards indicating a new, more mobile and more social direction for Xbox Live.

"So we've always wanted to be a company that got the benefit of the scale, going back to the beginning where we said, hey we're not a one-product company. Many of our competitors were one-product companies. Now they're not one-product companies, but Sony's just in video games, Nokia's largely just in mobile phones, IBM's largely in enterprise type software situations. And so is it a benefit to us that we work across these realms that we can expose you to the same user interface at home that you get at work? We think so. But there's a lot of execution behind taking that and getting the right things in the marketplace."

Geesuz, you guys are the idiots here.
Gates was adding insult to injury on $ony's struggles of late.
If you guys didn't know, the Playstation brand is what's keeping them alive these days rolleyes.gif

I literately laughed outloud when I read his quote laugh.gif

Umm Bill Gates stupid i'd think a little longer about making that comment... hehehe. Anyway I took it as a total blow off on his part in that the only place sony competes with microsoft is in the gaming divisions. It is like when a fighter is asked about his competition and they say "who is that" just to act like the competition is insignificant.

Edit: lol, you beat me to it miggidy

I assume that is a joke.

It amazes me how some of the worlds richest people can speak in lingo that means absolutely nothing and convince people that they are coming out with some intelligent meaningful statement

sony's game division isn't going that great. They recently axed a friend of mine from the California headquarters. He was there for 5-6 years doing customer service for playstations. I don't know how dead Sony's game division is because I see psp's as real gem in Sony's lineup. Doesn't cost as much to manufacture as ps3. I really think the psp is what's keeping them going. It's not problem prone as far as I can see. It's affordable and really cool. It has wifi....everyone I know that has it is happy with it. They can sell by volume. It didn't factor in as a console, but I still say it's in their same department. They must be making profit from that device.

I agrea That has got to be one of the stupidest states I have herd recently. Anyone with half a brain knows that sony makes all kinds of products ranging from toasters to robots and everything in between. Sony even has thier own movie studio.

"Just video games" ha ha

Bill Gates is right, Sonys only in Video Games, except for

movies, Sony Pictures Entertainment
music, Sony BMG Music
cellphones, Sony Ericcson
electronic devices like Laptops, Camcorders, TV's, cameras
semiconductors, bluray, they own Columbia Records, RCA

I think if anything this was just a slap in the face to Bill because now everyone is defending Sony biggrin.gif

Well B.G is living proof that you dont have to be smart to get money. This statement doesnt shock me at all. After all he said we didnt need broadband, HDMI and most recently that lame ass 10GHZ limit on cpus, so yea the guys not smart. But hes got enough money to make up for it i guess....
