Team Xecuter Comments on Store Raids

[QUOTE]
We were sad to discover that many stores were raided yesterday in the USA for selling modchips. Due to all the recent uprise of hacks-out-of-the-box like Wii mods and Pre flashed Xbox mods and pre-flashed 360 consoles we feared this would probably happen.

We feel our mods are shipped in a legal format with Linux pre loaded and any other products we make contain no copyrighted code and no circumvention of copy protection.

However, due to these crazy times we have taken the decision not to supply any linux based modchips (X2 and X3) to any USA stores in future and we will be concentrating on non-modchip products that will benefit and add enjoyment to gaming in general.

Focusing on other products sounds like a good idea.

You mean "provinces", and yes. Federal law states that we have the right to make backups of anything and everything we own for reasonable personal use, and that we may turn our Xbox into a toaster if we see fit.

Piracy is still illegal, and is what these guys were busted for. They were not only selling modchips, but modchips with "illegal" bios' on them, copied games etc. Hell theres someone advertising in a certain magazine I buy here for used stuff, backups for 360 for $10.....time to call crimestoppers, because I don't believe in profiting from piracy. Get it for free, or pay the developer for it, don't pay some loser with a replicator/burner for it, he put nothing into it.

I don't really think so. sleep.gif

I think it admits defeat in a way.

no its not the end of modchips in the slightest, even if they decided to stop producing them...someone else would just spit up a business in a country where its not illigal, and just ship them to countries that allow them...cuzz there is lots of money to be made that way!

there is no way in HELL M$ or sony or nintendo will EVER win the modchip fight....

and more still, even if they did, there would be other way and other ppl finding a way to do it anyways...

in reality modchips have not had a legal ruling in this country yet as far as i know but if the modchip that you own has a hacked bios... guess what.... its illegal

This is exactly what Team Xecuter should not be doing. By doing this, they are admitting defeat, and letting the bad guys (the United States government) win.

So in your book it's OK to copy the game yourself and to grass to the authorities to put someone in jail for years but it's not OK to provide that service to someone else for a few bucks. I'm not saying piracy is right but damn, think about what you're doing before you act. You know how harsh the authorities are. Out of all proportion to the crime. You might be sending some young kid to jail to get used a sex-toy by HIV carrying bull inmates.

And what's in it for you? Do you get some sort of moral satisfaction of being a stoolie for the authorities? These companies are ripping you off as well because your tax dollars are paying for the enforcement of their profits. Always remember what Chomsky says about how the world works "Public Subsidy & Private Profits". Don't be a damn stoolie, son. It's not up to you to fuck up someone else's life on behalf of your corporate masters.
