DIY'er puts the Wiimote on your Xbox 360
Posted by XanTium | August 7 15:27 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From obsiv.spaces.live.com:
I (like many others) am a proud owner of a Wii60. Us Wii60 owners feel that we've got gaming all covered. Our Xbox 360 gives us top-class hard core online gaming in high definition. Our Wii gives us really unique gaming experiences because the Wiimote is like nothing else. But, what if we could get the best of the Xbox 360 and the best of the Wii, together, in a single game? I was curious, and the end result is my creation that I call Xbox 360 Input Machine (or, "XIM" for short). Even though I chose to adapt a Wiimote to my Xbox 360, this system will work with any input device that a PC can recognize. This, of course, includes any gaming mouse and keyboard (wired or wireless) available.
How hard would that be to get used to?
very! It's a very cool DIY project he has thrown together here but without on screen aiming it doesn't add anything a mouse wouldn't provide with much better accuracy.

It wont come out as a device as such, Hes using his own software to run those wii controllers. He has his Mini pc connected to them. (if you watch the vid) Soo this isnt possible without involving a pc in the equation.

That is pretty cool but he would get mopped by anybody with a standard controller. I can tell you first hand the wii mote is terrible for FPS, way to slow.

Just because a PC was involved doesn't mean its actually necessary. Specialized hardware and software can replace the pc easily.
