I finaly got to do my HD-DVD mod. Here it is so far.

Unpacked and ready to go.IPB Image
I'll skip disassembly since there is a TUT from Llamma. http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbox_...ly_tutorial.htm
Have to remove the clear plastic from the eject button light. With a small pliers just move it around slightly until the glue parts separated and safely pull out the clear plastic.IPB Image
Sanded down the bezel and eject button to remove the chrome for better adhering of the paint.IPB Image
Painted the gray panels, silver bezel, and eject button to match my all white modded console.IPB Image
While the paint is drying moved on to the hole on the top panel of HD-DVD shell. Use a hole 3 inch saw drill bit. No measuring or stenciling necessary. Simple as "X marks the spot". Just need to place the drill head on the second X of the text. IPB Image
Hello hole. Excuse the bad pic my mother-in-law's digital camera is dyslexic. IPB ImageHint:when drilling a hole with a hole saw drill slow otherwise it melts the plastic and is a pain to sand (like I did dry.gif. Should have learned from the first time I did on my console.)IPB Image
Well off I go a sanding. More to come.

Nice and smoootthhhh. Again sorry about the pic quality.

Ok next is the 360 logo vent and grill. Like the 360 the HD-DVD you can place it flat and on it's side. So I decided to make the logo grill capable to be turned
depending on which side the HD-DVD player is standing.
So to start I take my 360 themed grill and cut of the screw holes. IPB Image
then I needed to cut the spacer lip on the underside of top case panel in the circular pattern of grill. That will hold the grill in place as it's turned.IPB Image
IPB Image
IPB Image
There we go.Nice fit.
IPB Image
Then we need to put the fan mesh over and secure it. I'm going to use epoxy later for final mounting.
IPB Image
IPB Image
The secured mesh holds the grill in place and now it can be turned.
IPB Image
That was fun. More to come.

Was thinking about it but my X-connects PSU only comes with two straight molex connector cables and to order one from the company would be too much of a pain. Plus so would rewiring the power to the HD-DVD player.
