Rumor: Red Ring of Death Hysteria?
Posted by XanTium | August 13 14:17 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From kotaku.com:
[QUOTE]
When the console seizes up and dies, three of the "circle of light's" quadrants blink red, but when the video cable pops out four of the quadrants blink. Apparently, a large number of consoles returned to Microsoft with the dreaded Red Ring of Death were perfectly fine and just the victim of a bit of red ring hysteria.

There have been so many returns, in fact, that we've been told Microsoft plans on disabling the four ring error code on future builds of the console. No word on whether they will remove the three-ring coding as well.

^^^ he' saying that it's possible that what MS is saying about the returned consoles being fine is just a bunch of BS, and they're only trying to make it seem like the RROD problem is less significant than it really is.

It's an interesting theory, but there is nothing to back it up, but there's nothing to back up MS's claim either...

Either people are that stupid even though its called the 3 red lights of death or microsoft is trying to recover themselves by saying its the consumers fault. Were sorry we we dont play the 360 in freezing weather for it to actually last with its 100 degrees celsius temperature.

Now the RROD will become (choose a color) ring of death. This way Microsoft won't have to extend the warranty to 3 years, because the 3 years warranty is only valid for the RROD beerchug.gif

I wonder home many of these consoles test fine for the 2 minutes they spend on them and then they say... "this one works... we can send it out as repaired... idiot must hav had the AV cable unplugged.."..

Someone else gets this refurb and it gets the 3ROL within a week...

Sounds crazy but that probably does happen. I've had a few customers bring me ROD consoles that magically work. Just moving them can sometimes temporarily fix the problem.

Very true, one of my mates sent off refurb whilst i did my DIY repair, i did not let him sleep when his refurb 3rol'd. But i can understand that a kid with little knowledge of the 360's workings whos heard the Ring Of Death lingo, could easily mistake the 4rol for 3rol
