Schtrom360Xtract v3.3 - Improved Stealth Check
Posted by XanTium | August 20 22:46 EST | News Category: Xbox360
Schtrom released a new version of Schtrom360Xtract(info), a tool that will allow you to easily dump Xbox/Xbox360 gamedata, extract/patch the Security Sectors, PFI and DMI and fully prepare the image for burning in 1 step.
What's new/fixed: * new extraction style "whole disc (stealth xtreme 3.0 SplitVid)", this splits the video part for layer 0 and layer 1, this seems to be the most exact method to extract an image * new extraction styles for both video layers (videoL0.iso and videoL1.iso) * extraction of both video layers from a "SplitVid" style image * you can take a stealth xtreme 3.0 style backup disc and extract a new "SplitVid" style image directly from it * you can extract the SplitVid video layers from a xtreme 3.0 image and inject them into the same image later to convert it to SplitVid * get region code directly from a disc * the region code check gets also the game name based on the Media ID and the stealth.ini file * save XDVDFS image and disc layout to a lyt file * fixed XDVDFS XTR extraction, problems of some images like Star Trek Legacy * fixed options dialog, custom drive letter is not loaded from ini * fixed inquiry detection of SH-D163A without kreon firmware * on extraction to non NTFS partitions only a warning msg is displayed, the task is not aborted * xdvdfs wildcard extraction changed, use the following: - for a complete extraction leave the Wildcards edit control blank - for exact extraction "\default.xex", only extract default.xex or Default.xex from the specified root path "\" - for wildcard extraction "*.xml", extract all xml files and create the needed subfolders in the destination path "*panel*.x?l", extract all panel files that have the extension x?l * new stealth check function under the "Tools" menu, this should be used every time before burning an image * stealth and crc32 check of images and backup discs possible * the stealth.ini contains stealth verification data of most games out atm, after the stealth and crc check of an image/disc the result is compared against the stealth.ini entries to find a match, if a match is found you can be 100 % sure that the image/disc is completely stealth * if there is no match found in the stealth.ini you can add the unknown image as a user entry * stealth verification user entries can be exported/imported from/to the stealth.ini, this maybe helpful in the future to keep the database up to date

I thought there was some controversy regarding whether or not the firmware or backups should take care of splitting the video partition across the layers. And if I remember right, C4E mentioned that his firmware took care of this; thus there was no need for the backups to change. So why has Schtrom made this change?

Awesome update!
The only thing that lacks is automatic uploading of stealth/crc data to the online DB whenever a nonverified retail game is ripped. We clearly need a way to automate the verification process for new games and putting it into the ripping process (optional) would ensure that.

There is no need to reburn if only the video partition is "wrong". 3.3 even lets those ISOs pass because Ixtreme simulates the proper video partition split.
However I recommend everyone to use the stealth.ini checks which Mulleter has allowed for quite a while using CRC-Check against the online DB. Its the only way to ensure your copy is an unmoidifed match of the real deal (retail copy).
So check all your backups with Mulleter 9.7's CRC check feature or with Schtrom 3.3. However the later doesn't check online, instead it uses a static stealth.ini file.
I really hope that Schtrom will add a feature to download and upload stealth/CRC info automatically. Its the only way the feature will get widely accepted and the online DB stays up-to-date.

So if I just pop each backup into 3.3 and click scan for stealth or w/e and it passes then I don't need to re-burn. That is excellent news. I would be glad to reburn a few, but not hundreds.

Exactly. If it complains after CRC checking that your game isn't in the stealth.ini I recommend double-checking it with Mulleter. Mulleter will check online if its a verified retail copy and otherwise help you fix it with its autofix function.

Well if you have hundreds of games burnt you're going to get questioned about what you're using all of them for. I doubt you can convince anyone that many are legal.

They are. They are not just mine. I live with many people and we split them so between the 5 of use we have 20 each or a few more. Thats not too hard now is it? Not trying to be an ass but I just wanted you to know theres a legit reason for everything

ok so i see Schtrom has been hard at work!!
GReat job man everyone appreciates your help and lots of people (including me) love your program and have been very successful with it.....
From reading the comments i see that people who have used The "Whole Disc (Stealth Xtreme 3.0)" feature in v3.2 to make their backups dont need to worry about this new stealth thing with the split video partitions..
But what about now with v3.3?? can we still use that option or should we start using the new SplitVid option??? And can someone explain if so what the core difference is here??
Thanks to everyone who helped schtrom and everyone who is helping the n00bs on xbox-scene even though you dont hear it a lot, everyone appreciates your work!!!

i did notice that the image sizes are different with each program. XBC 2.5's image size was 7.05gb and Schtrom 3.3's are 7.29gb. i guess because of the video splitting on the two layers. i think ill use Schtrom for now until Redline99 incorporates it in XBC. also the Schtrom image video is still questionable in XBC's stealth check.
