Netflix says demand for HD discs is evenly split
Posted by XanTium | August 28 22:58 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From afterdawn.com:
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said that the company was still seeing low demand for HD discs but that demand was equal for both rivals. "We carry all the Blu-ray titles and we carry all the HD DVD, so we're agnostic. And we think the solution in that market is to have the studios publish on both," said Hastings. "(Customer demand) is pretty evenly split between them (but it's) tiny, like a percent or something."
We probably won't be seeing a major demand on a given HD format at least, not until we start seeing the players hit the 100 to 150 dollar mark.
Well, I just got the HD-A2 HD DVD player off of Amazon yesterday for $210 shipped. I also get 8 HD DVDs for free. If you figure each HD DVD cost about $20 each, that would mean I got the HD DVD player for $50.
