Hey guy,

Amazing site by the way, such a great help.
I have managed to find the answers to all my other questions by
just looking around the site but have one that I can't seen to
find the answer to.

My DVD writer (Macbook Pro) can't perform bitsetting therefore I was thinking
I'm gonna have to buy a 111D and put it in a enclosure, but then I read that
new firmware don't mind so much about the whole DVD + R, DVD-ROM thing,
so my question is...

Which Hitachi-LG firmware is any has the abbility to boot non DVD-ROM DVD's?

Thanks for any help that people can give.

Cheers for reply.

Has any one had any experience with playing non DVD-ROM booktypes
on any of the Hitachi firmwares?

Thanks

At least with maximus 2.3, it worked perfectly with no bitsetting. After that I had to change my writter because it died, and my new LG writter does support bitsetting so I don't worry about that anymore.

In a nutshell, if you're using the latest fw, bitsetting is not an issue.

After some testing in seems that the Apple Superdrive that is in a
Macbook Pro, with the new firmware defaults to DVD-ROM,
which is very nice!

Just thought I'd let people know.
