GameStop Execs: 360 Returns Have Gone Down Since MS Announcement
Posted by XanTium | September 12 00:10 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From nytimes.com:
The GameStop executives said they have noticed that sales of Microsoft's XBox 360 have not been hurt by the machines' widely reported design defects, which cause the consoles to fail. "All I can say is that we have not seen anything negative from that," Mr. McKenzie said. "We track our returns, and returns have actually gone down since they made that announcement, and we haven't seen any effect on enthusiasm for the 360."
Halo 3 is a big part of the buzz around the 360. The executives would not say how many pre-orders they have taken for the Microsoft game, but, Mr. McKenzie said, "Halo 3 is on track probably to be the largest release that we have had in the history of the company."
I guess the majority of the consoles that would've failed have already done so. I don't see a correlation between number of returns and the admission of fault, if it worked like that then a CEO could potentially admit to embezzlement to protect his companies stock prices.

funny this is posted... my second xbox 360 died on my last night, oddly its fine playing 1080p stuff, but locks up pretty quick playing games.. no red lights (well except once). A power cycle and its happy to boot to dash (sometimes freezes with graphics corruption). The red lights are not showing when it freezes up.
Time to call ms to take this POS and get it sorted :-(

I used to think that, too. Then my Xbox 360 died last night, after having a year and a half of casual use, in a well-ventilated and air-conditioned room. I think Microsoft extended the warranty to three years because they saw a large number of failures in Xboxes over a year old.
