Whenever on Live and using the packaged headset, I get an "echo" whenever I chat. It sounds like I'm in a barrell and I can hear my voice repeating what I've said.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any solutions or do I just need a better headset?

There are a few things to take into consideration.

1: Make sure you only have the voice coming through your headset, as you may be hearing your voice in stereo by having the sound enabled to be heard via speakers and headset.

2: Your Internet connection may be slow, so whatever you say could be a delay by your internet bandwidth.

3: Could be a faulty headset, are you using a official product of Microsoft? I have used so far a wired third party headset which was crap, bought the official wired one and was much better, then i have bought the official wireless headset and its definitley worth the money. The better one out of the lot.

4: Not really sure if this one counts but in some cases the volume could be turned up too high, if your preference is to play it through speakers and headset that is.

5: If your using a wireless headset are you within range of your console, if your using a wireless pad are you within range of your console.

Hope these help

Hey wallacejbj, thanks for the response.

So far I've:

1) checked to make sure the voice is coming through the headset.

2) Very good internet connection (3m).

3) Got a different headset (Motorola Gaming Headset from Sears on clearance for $12.97).

4) Tried changing the volume on both my headset and my surround sound system.

5) I'm setting within about 12 - 15 of the console using a wireless controller.

But I'm still getting an echo of my voice. Just finished playing a little COD 4 beta on-line and one of my friends said he could not hear any echo and I sounded very clear, however I can still hear it repeating my voice whenever I speak. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

in my opinion , its 1 of 2 things ,

1 - as stated it could be lag due to slow internet , i know u say you have 3mb however are you the only person using it? , if so try rebooting your modem,it could be you are getting crap ping times

2 - someone else in the room has thier tv/sound system turned up too loud and your voice is being picked up by thier own microphone and relayed back to you(altho everyone in the room would hear this too.

i am on 20mb and occasionally get the same problems you are describing but not all the time , anyway good luck in finding a solution

Yeah, I've got a feeling it's maybe my surround sound system, I'm old and probably partially deaf by now so I play my games too loud (That's what the Mrs's says anyway). I'm the only one on the internet so I think it probably narrows it down to my sound system. I guess I'll try turning it down real low and see if that helps.

Thanks for the help!!!

Your welcome anytime mate just hope it helps. I agree with antz it could be your surround sound, but then again i'm using a cambridge soundworks and mine doesnt do it and the cambridge are very powerful. and have mine quite turned up.

Have you got anyone else who has a 360 you can try the headset with?
