BenHeck Xbox 360 Wireless 'Duke' Controller Mod
Posted by XanTium | September 19 16:47 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Benjamin J Heckendorn (alias Ben Heck) released a new Xbox 360 mod ... he converted the original Xbox1 'duke' controller into a wireless Xbox360 controller:
[QUOTE]
For some reason I have put the guts of a wireless Xbox 360 controller inside of an original, huge, 2001-model Xbox 1 controller - commonly referred to as "the Duke", though what it has in common with John Wayne is beyond me.
Xbox 360 Duke Conroller Mod

Looks quite normal from the front, except for the added guide button (between/above back and start) and the headset jack at the base. Couldn't forget that, what's trash-talking without one?
Back is also fairly normal, except for a small, recessed "sync" button below where the cord used to come out.

That is pretty cool. Seeing this controller again brings back memories of getting used to all the buttons on Halo.

I'm sure there are some halo 2 addicts that would love one of these for the 360

I would be impressed if it was a Nintendo or supernintendo controller.

It is weird that you guys have never heard them called Dukes before...

It is very common knowledge.

I'm defiantly going to have to do this if it is easy. I have huge hands and the 360 controller is way to small. Also the duke is just awesome.

I still prefer the duke for several games (esp Halo) glad to see it is still alive.

Wasn't Duke the ole Microsoft "code" name for the original controllers? That is a really cool mod. I would actually like one of those. I don't have large hands. But I like the space between all the buttons, and for me the button placement is better on the Duke..

very impressive mod...good work.

and before some people start bashing it as "useless" or "a waste" it was done more for the challenge than the practicality...esp since the 360 controller is one of the best designs yet for console games...

i, too, never heard it referred to as the duke, but i was late onto the xbox scene with my first box purchased in fall 2004...i agree with the "hamburger" comment above more than the duke...
