I decided to finally mod my box the other day so I went out and got a good copy of Splinter Cell and an Action Replay Adapter. I decided to go the softmod route with gamesave exploits.
I followed multiple tutorials to try to get it to work. I tried: Krayzie Ndure Installer 1.1 & Softmod Installer Deluxe.v2.0. Both of these had the same failure. I got the gamesave on the box fine, no problems. When i fired up splinter cell, i saw the gamesave fine. However when I select the Linux profile and go to checkpoints, it freezes on this screen. I still hear the music going on in the background but it never launches UnleashX. I can't do anything on the box and am forced to shut off the box to get it to respond again. I am using the Action replay memory card, and an original/retail xbox. I can't figure out what version of box it is though. I got this box free from Taco Bell before they were available on the market. So i assume its version 1.0? I have made sure that my M$ dashboard is ver:5960. i've fought this for about a week with no advances. lemme know what to try/do. I know im not the only person that this has happened to....... surely... |

I'd try a new copy of the exploit if I were you.
I had a similar issue, and just needed to re-download the gamesave. You might also try to find a friend with a chipped xbox and get them to put the save on a memory card. I've tried fresh downloads of each exploit, both Krayzie's Ndure 1.1 and the softmod deluxe 2.0 three times each. Same result box just locks up. and yes i make sure to delete the "old" one off the xbox and out of Action Replay's console each time. so i know the new one is being tried.

Problem here, where i'm at i believe i'm the only person with an xbox for about 20-30 miles... believe me, i've asked my "gamer" friends if they had tried this and they all said "f**k the xbox get a d**n playstation."  i am open to other softmods if they are fairly noob friendly. just dont know about em. i've read mostly on the two that i've tried. any ideas? |

It is likely that your AR is corrupting the save (which is a common problem). Go onto Xbins and get a smaller exploit file. use that to gain FTP access and then use Kingroachs NDURE installer for PC to build the right files on your PC and then FTP them over once you have access.

King Roach, NDURE/XboxHDM/Hotswap is what did it for me.
That softmodded my XBox drive so that I could go forward. As a personal opinion, UnleashX rocks! PS I noticed you said you used a COPY of Slinter Cell, IIRC you need a REAL Splinter Cell for it to work properly. This post has been edited by LarryT: Sep 28 2007, 10:45 PM |

update: I tried a a smaller exploit: Krayzie Ndure 1.0 -still didn't work.
I downloaded Ndure 3.1, just haven't tried to run it (still researching it.) I am hesitant to do a hotswap mod as i haven't read up on it enough.... i just don't want to brick this thing! @LarryT - i am using a "real" M$ SC disc. |

try SC with evox, it less then 1MB
also put some other save's first (so the SC save is not the first thing in the mem) it should give you FTP access (FTP the real save or NDURE from PC) |

i downloaded the SC w/ evox softmod. But my Action replay says "this is not a valid xbox save"
 ...i'm surely missing something simple... it can't be this damned frustrating to just softmod... |

it should not be that hard to figure out
look at a save that is valid and the one that is not and see what the difference is... unzip and look/fix and rezip to make it a valid save all the base files are the same EDIT ok just looked at that save, unzip it rezip it without the UDATA directory This post has been edited by xman954: Sep 29 2007, 04:40 PM |
