GameStop Informants: Xbox 360 Core Discontinued, New Low-End Unit
Posted by XanTium | September 28 15:09 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From kotaku.com:
[QUOTE]
Apparently an email has come down informing [GameStop] store managers to pull down any signage regarding the Xbox 360 core system, because once their current stock is gone there isn't going to be anymore. Seems like stores are preparing for the rumored new Core system, that comes with the 256MB memory card and wireless controllers. There are rumors upon rumors, but this one rings true.

Nice typo on the topic biggrin.gif
Maybe it's "Xbox 360 Core Discontinued"?

Good news anyhow, hopefully it'll hit Europe sometime this year too.

My money is on "Xbox 360 Core". Don't see any reason why they would have to change the name, since eg. HDMI was introduced without any namechange to the premium system.

Very happy to see they have included wireless controller(s?) and a 256MB memory card, about fricken time. If only they would drop the price off the HDD so it isn't as expensive for core users to upgrade over time.

Oh nice, now I'll have the "RARE, HARD TO FIND" white bezel on my XBox 360. But not quite. Damn.

Ah well, my friends all still envy my Top Loader NES that I got in 94.

Too many models!! They should have just ran the Premium as the Xbox 360. So the game developers wouldn't be handicapped by the HD/no-HD crowd.

I agree, it's way too confusing for typical consumers, especially the casual "family" gamers they are targeting.

For a company that prides itself on making things easy and user friendly they certainly have made odd choices in marketing recently with the 360, much like the 32 flavors of Vista.

The original idea was fine, a simple lower cost console and a loaded console, all they had to do was fix the hardware issues, make the Premium the new Core, and the Elite the new Premium.

Microsoft should have done this a long time ago, or better they should not have ever lauched a console with wired controllers... Thats horrible.
