Hi guys,

basically I've been using a Lite-on PC dvd drive for some time, and been fine with it. I've started to use more dvd-rs tho, which it seems to have trouble reading. It doesn't spin them up properly, and will only booth them very rarely.

I have a spare samsung SD-612se drive, which I can use, which spins the discs up fine, but gives an error 12 when booting the xbox.

Anyone have any ideas? Can I maybe upgrade the firmware for my samsung drive?

Help appreciates as always.

cheers

it's more at a hardware level i think. As before the drive even spins up the error 12 appears.

I think i'll try upgrading the firmware if i don't get any more ideas....

clutching at straws now really smile.gif

Did you try different jumper settings?

Yeah I've tried the different jumper settings. It was on cable select i think. The same as the lite-on drive which works fine, except wont read DVD-Rs too well.

I don't think i've missed anything from the tutorial, as it works *sometimes* but not very often at all. I think it's just the lite-on drive being dodgy.

If I could get the samsung drive to work...it would sort everything out I suspect.
