no kidding. a friend of mine waited to buy a 360 until Halo 3 came out. and he did the same thing I did, bought the Halo 3 SE system and the Legendary game. yeah, Halo 3 didn't boost the sales or anything.

With all the hype aside I think Halo 3 is a good solid game in both multiplayer and single player and it show in the sales. This game has singlehandedly crushed the compitition.

I would like to know how many of the sales are new users. i.e not users whose 360s have failed in the months running up to H3 release. Be interesting to know how many Xbox 1 users have chosen this point to go to the newer machine.
Impossible to get those sort of stats I suppose.

New Zealand sold over 10,000 copies (8,200 of which were preorders).

I honestly don't think many people buy a second 360 if their first one fails. Nice try though.

Australia only has a very small market with a 360 install base under 250k units. So 1/3 360 owners bought a copy of H3. That is very surprising, considering it received basically no advertising outside of game stores. I have not see one TV commercial or any mention of this product on TV. Even on my Australian Xbox Live account the only advertising was a simple Halo 3 banner that linked to the E3 2007 gameplay trailer.

Yeah, thats very true. I havent ever seen a halo 3 ad on TV, and coming from a small town, the only ever advertising Ive seen has been at Big W, Harvey Norman and K-mart, but ll theyve had is a small poster to say it could be preordered.

A lot of people I know waited until halo 3 came out to buy a 360 (Even my cousin, who got in BIG trouble off his wife after he brought a 360 home with him, and didnt tell her he was getting it, lol)

But yeah, the market for game consoles is relativly small here, compared to America or China. Still, good on M$ and bungie for making a good game that sold plenty of units... I bet the sales department at M$ is happy rolleyes.gif

Yeah there was no TV advertising over here at all. I didnt see any billboards or anything either, but wasnt really near the city to check. Xbox Live was filled with ads in the upcoming days before release.

But anyway, 1 in 3. Thats great. Go us! I love playing against aussies on live!

first off, where or what is "Autralia" (according to the main page spelling as of now)...

and of course, Halo 3 will drive a huge increase in 360 sales - it was the fastest-selling piece of media entertainment in US history leaving even Spiderman and Harry Potter in the dust...

now as far as exact numbers...of course that will be disputed...but for anyone to consider that "a game" could not spur such increases in console sales is just pure ignorance...we've seen if before in the past several times...

Check this out....trade in your 360+4 games for a 40gig ps3 and pay AUD$199 ....

certainly a step backwards for a gamer, but a nice way to get off the RROD merry-go round.

If I were you I would leave out the "nice try" comments. With your history you really don't want to be trying to shit stir again. My point was a serious one.
anyway on to your other point.
Why would people not buy a 360 if there first one goes boom. What do you think they will do with all the games they have?? throw them away??

Oh yeah. Sorry, I forgot that people aren't smart enough to use their warranty to get a replacement. They just buy a new 360 instead.

360 plus 4 games? That seems like a lot for a 40gig PS3..
