Microsoft Gets Tough on Naughty Gamer Mottos: 24h Ban
Posted by XanTium | October 12 19:10 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From joystiq.com:
[QUOTE]
Even though your "Bros b4 hos" Gamer Motto may be both poignant and accurate, you may want to rethink it if you plan on playing on Xbox Live this weekend. Savings sultan CheapyD warns that his account was suspended for around 24 hours for his seemingly innocuous motto of "Konichiwa, bitches!" Another user on the site got a similar punishment for "called the šhit žoop," which is probably a bit more fair.

Why don't they just make it filter words that they deem inappropriate and warn the user, rather than letting people use them and then find themselves banned?

They try. You get in trouble when other users report your naughty motto.

Just yet another reason why we need to have an "adults" only area on live... not only are the adults tired of listening to the twelve year olds whine, boast, or voice crack their way through games, but there is no need for a 27 year old to play in the same match with someone less than half their age.

This would also lend itself to adults only ratings on some video games too... catch a kid playing one of those games on live and THEY should be the ones banned. LOL. (not that I really expect that to happen)

Shit, A few bad words never hurt anyone, f'n-A man.

There could be all-ages areas, adults only areas, and 13 and under areas.... Let the users decide who they want to mingle with at a very high level.

IF we are going to keep seeing more and more advertising in video games, like that Dodge Ad in Crackdown, then we need to see MORE subsidized features and cheaper games!

freedom of expresion anyone?

i say we start a movement for everyone to change it to something inapropriate to support those that got the small ban

why didn't M$ just change their motto to "inappropriate please change" as a warning

I had mine set for lemonparty.org for quite a long time, changed it to FraginN00bsInColumbin recently, seems like I'll have to go back and change it to lemonparty just to see what happens.

There is no freedom of expression or free speech on a private service, If they dont like what a user says or does they can ban you.

You should probably change your tag to avoid it.

Mine says "a_trout_in_your_anus".. I probably won't change it though even under threat of a 24 hour ban.
