Xenon360 VS HDMI Xbox360 cases
Posted by XanTium | October 14 23:51 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From xbox-central.com:
[QUOTE]
With all the concern about whether the Xbox360 HDMI-versions are compatible with the Xenon360, we took a picture comparing side-by-side both cases to show you how it actually looks like at the rear-end of the party.
Xenon360 VS HDMI

As you can see, we've straightened up the Xenon360 at the back-end making it flush instead of curvy like the stock machine. This means that should you actually decide to put a dremel to the Xenon360, it will not affect the hinged structure while still being able to accomodate the HDMI cables (theoretically). From our external observation, it seems that the highlighted portion (above) is the only part of the HDMI case that is different from stock, as even the USB/LAN port position looks unchanged. We will post more design news as we go along.

big thanks to xbox-central for showing all of us where the HDMI port is on an xbox 360...

...and the fact that this new case is not compatible (without cutting) for any 360 that has the port...

yes, taste the sarcasm...

Yea that sucks for you guys. How many Xenon360 cases have you already made? Will there be a HDMI Xenon360 case in the future?

I don't get it, why would they not include the cut out when they are trying to clone an Elite, plus its obvious all new 360s will have HDMI connection. All the hype for an unfiinish product.

There are not so many HDMI-360s out there anyway ... at least 90% of those are still without HDMI. So if this case was made for anyone at all, it was specifically targeted for the non-HDMI market.

Already we're at work on the HDMI-version of the Xenon360 iteration, although I have to say there isn't a substantial enough market to warrant full speed development. So for now, people who already have the Elite will probably stick with their cases while those who wish to upgrade their non-HDMI machines will now have an additional option.

Having said that, those with the Elites may desire some of the additional features available with the Xenon360. The possibilities are endless. Pick your poison.

I think its's a great option for the 90% of us out there who don't own an HDMI version of the 360.

Still running my launch day console & it's almost on it's second birthday, well done Xenon on a great looking product smile.gif

The AV port is no longer in the same position with the new boards (it has been moved upwards to accomodate the HDMI port). Therefore the back area around the two ports will have to be completely butchered inorder to accomodate a new board in one of these cases.

Indeed. People buy pre-painted, or pre-modified cases because they don't want to do it by themselves.

Um guys if you have an Elite (hdmi) 360 - YOU ALREADY HAVE A BLACK CASE! Surely you're not buying this for the sake of an easier opening case alone?
GREAT JOB LIMITK55 and the guys at XBOX CENTRAL! Now all we need is some introductory reduced price offer.

Everyone seems to forget they designed this replacement case almost a year ago and seem to have been very slow to get it manufactured. It is a bit of a wonder what happened. It's true most users don't even have HDMI so I'm sure there will be plenty of people wanting it. You can tell from the picture that the A/V port has moved and it's not as simple as cutting out a spot for the HDMI. Either way it's an easy mod.

You been hiding under a rock? All new premium 360's have HDMI. I dont think that they should be saying they support HDMI when they obviously dont. I wonder if they would accept returns if it went wrong? Im guessing they would say " We cant accept it back if your stupid enough to cut it up".

Its good for the older versions and for core.

one more thing you need to take into account here too
Not only do you have to cut the black case, BUT once you get your WHIT one open you still need to strip the mobo out so that you can cut the steel case as well,

I know this to be FACT not speculation
without going into too much detail I'll just say I had to do it, I Put my Elite into my Premium console,
The Elite (inside premium) did not line up the out puts, cause the HDMI actually rasises it a bit
the Premium (tih Elite guts) had to have BOTH the plastic AND STEEL case BOTH cut to expose the HDMI, I know this isn't what this discussion is but be warned if you buy this piece of wood, thats what you're liable to get....A piece of wood.

in short
if you want a black case AND hdmi.....get the elite the 120GB HDD alone is worth it

sry 4 such a long post....
i'll go back to lurking noe blink.gif
