360 sells nearly 2X as many games per console as Wii, PS3
Posted by XanTium | October 31 22:30 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From xbox360fanboy.com:
[QUOTE]
Joystiq got their greasy manhooks on some interesting market data from NPD. Savvy Xbox 360 fans know that the Xbox 360 sells quite a few games, but according to this data, the Xbox 360 sells nearly twice as many games per console as the PS3 and Wii.

* Xbox 360: hardware to software ratio: 6.59 (hardware total sold = 6.8 million; software total sold = 44.8 million)
* PlayStation 3: hardware to software ratio: 3.58 (hardware total sold = 1.9 million; software total sold = 6.8 million)
* Wii: hardware to software ratio: 3.44 (hardware total sold = 4.5 million; software total sold = 15.5 million)

Should be "Software to Hardware Ratio."

Just goes to show that even with all the talk about how many Wiis are selling, Microsoft is still laughing all the way to the bank.

Hell I dont remember the last game I purchased for my Wii. The 360 is just hands down the best out there with the best titles.

I don't see why the Wiis continue to sell. The games are really shitty and "kiddy" No replay value whatsoever and the gameplay is just bad.

You know, there is some truth to that, but it's unfair to say. It depends on how you look at it. I have a Wii with almost every game, so I have tried plently of them.. and your correct.. there's no way in hell I'd play Harry Potter, Transformers, etc.. when there is 360 versions.. but then it has some perks, like Resident Evils and being backwards compatible with the Gamecube etc... even still, not the only reason I like it.. over the summer me and a friend, we're in our 30's played Mario Party 8 with my 14 yr old son and his cousin 2-3 times a week and honestly, I never laughed or had some much fun playing the mini-games and what not.. we all enjoyed it.. and yea, wii sports.. bowling.. etc.. for the money, I had to get one but my love is the 360 of course, but I can see how people CAN enjoy a WII with family and friends also playing.. the 360 has not broken into homes as a family game playing machine as much as microsoft would like it to be.. it's not.. it's for hardcore gamers..

Yup, Wii Sports is included with the console purchase. Although I did pick up a copy of Wii Play as well.

And it's true, good titles for the Wii are few and far between. And I took that risk knowingly when i bought the Wii, but it was just one of those consoles that I had to have.

Regardless of if its ever gonna have a decent library of games, I don't regret buying it. As a gamer, I just feel some how 'complete' knowing its setting in my entertainment center right beside my Elite, Premium, Xbox 1, and Dreamcast. smile.gif

"Xbox 360: hardware to software ratio: 6.59 (hardware total sold = 6.8 million; software total sold = 44.8 million)"

Didn't we reach like 10 mil a while ago? Are these figures meant to represent like Jan 2007???

Stands to reason that people who are choosing a game that is available on both consoles would pick the 360 version. Graphically alone the difference is huge.
The Wii sell, IMO, because there are some fun games that are available for a quick blast with mates. I still play the Sports on mine all the time and Res 4 just for the fact they are different to pick up and play. I certainly don't see myself buying the number of games I do for my other consoles, but that doesn't mean I don't use the Wii.

Yeah ,id agree with that... The last 2 wii games I bought were at the Wiis launch, but i bought 3 games for my 360 yesterday.

I really only find i play the wii when mates come over, and we'll have a quick game of strickers if someone brings a copy of it...

There are plenty of sites for the Wii:

http://nintendo-scene.com/ (also DS/Lite and GC)
http://www.metacritic.com/games/wii/
http://www.wiigamereviews.co.uk/
http://wii-news.dcemu.co.uk/

To name but a few. I'm sure you could have searched on Google for these yourself tho, TBH.....

Laughing to the bank, or running from the loan shark so their legs don't get broken? It's the first profitable quarter for the Xbox group.. in 6 years. I'm pretty sure they haven't made $1 yet.

Although everyone knows most good Nintendo games are made by Nintendo (Hi gears and halo), they have also been around a year less. One year of game purchases. My guess is that most people pick up maybe 5 games a year.

That's why Microsoft used to say that the first company to 10 million consoles sold wins.

wii is selling because its cheap....dont let anyone fool u. if the wii cost the same as the current consoles, the hardware wouldnt be selling as much. alot of ppl buythe wii knowing that the software simply because its cheap and wouldnt hurt the wallet to have one. I bought my wii simply cause i hadthe extra money and thought atleast it will keep my girl busy while im playing halo.
